Cracked with Chevonne Ariss

Hi friends and welcome back to Cracked with Chevonne Ariss!
Today for episode 51 of Cracked I’m joined by Ellen Van Dijk . She’s a stained glass artist based in The Netherlands best known for her photo realistic portraits. Drawing and painting portraits since childhood, her love for drawing and the desire for creative expression has been present for as long as she can remember. The combination of portraiture and learning to make stained glass windows brought her to where she is today. Today we’re talking about her personal experience with heartfelt portrait commissions, travel adventures of teaching, her in person classes as well as her online classes, and a couple really great glass paining glass hacks! To see more of Ellen's work, her instagram is @glasatelierellen and her website is glasatelierellen.com.
For the Cracked Patreon page members Ellen is offering 15% off of her online courses. The link to that is always in my bio or the show notes!

To Be Or Not To Be, That Is David's Question with David Scheid

Today on Cracked I'm joined by LA artist David Scheid. David is a stained glass artist whose work is inspired by the light and landscapes of California. He spends most of my time on the road as a tour manager for bands including Girl Talk, Beirut, and Dinosaur Jr. and when at home he builds colorful, geometric stained glass pieces and custom windows. His work has been installed in houses, gardens and shops throughout the West Coast and greater United States.
Today we’re going to discuss the eternal question of what it is we’re meant to be doing professionally, an honest look at what working during the pandemic looked like and finding extraordinary inspiration and imagery in the everyday moments around us.
To see more of David’s work is Instagram is @davidscheidstainedglass and his website is davidscheidstainedglass.com.
For the Cracked Patreon page members, David has made us a studio playlist, made up of all the artists that he has tour managed for. The link to that is always at the bottom of the show notes!

Sgraffito Allegories with Lil Eris of Lekka Suka

Today for the final episode of Season 4 of Cracked I’m speaking with the queen of sgraffito, the Italian word directly translated to “scratched.” Her time consuming technique of flooding a thin layer of lead based powder paint over colorful patchwork like glass pieces, and then meticulously scratching it off revealing negative space designs that come together to create elaborate and rich stories. Drawing from her experiences of her childhood and family, in her stained glass pieces Lil weaves a tail of greblins, witches, fairies and sea creatures to name just a few.

Let's get into it!
Join me as I crack it all wide open!

For the final Patreon page drawing of the season, I'm doing a drawing of 2 names! One winner will receive the Map Mundi print + a set of greeting cards and another winner will receive a sgraffito stained glass white lily made by Lil and a set of greeting cards. The Map print is 11”x13.5” and the flower is 3.5” I'll be doing a drawing for those on September 17th.
