Beltane Tarot Ritual: Multi-media Meditation w/ Michael Anticoli + Claire Burgess of Fifth Spirit Tarot
05/01/20 • 75 min
Hey Cosmic Cousins!
In my own tarot practice, I use music to awaken a deeper connection to my intuition. In honor of Beltane, I present to you a multi-media tarot meditation collaboration with two incredibly gifted artists, both from different mediums. Enjoy the music of Michael Anticoli (@michael.anticoli) paired with the art of Claire Burgess (@the.word.witch) from Fifth Spirit Tarot. How does the music deepen your connection to the tarot? I would love to hear from you.
Michael Anticoli is an incredible musician and is very prolific with his composing. He’s releasing an album for each of the four elements: Air, Water, Fire, and Earth. Michael always wanted to create his own Tarot deck, but he’s not as much as a visual artist as he is a sonic creator. So he thought to himself, "Why not make a sonic Tarot deck?" Michael is a Taurus Sun, Gemini Moon, Scorpio Rising, and he says this about his work, “This is a meditation, a journey, the fruits of investigating my own inner archetypes, my own stories, my own experiences. Not having lyrics attached to the work helps others listen to it and paint their own stories onto it, use it for their own divination and meditation.”
Claire Burgess is a queer and non-binary tarot reader, educator, illustrator, writer, podcaster, and witch. Claire is an Aquarius Sun, Gemini Moon, and Scorpio Rising. They're the person behind The Word Witch Tarot and the host of The Word Witch Podcast, and now of course, the Fifth Spirit, which is a modern and inclusive tarot deck for a world beyond binaries. This deck is truly remarkable. It’s images are vast and really speak to my queer heart, so I wanted to share it with you on today’s episode in an effort to support the kickstarter for Fifth Spirit Tarot.
You can check out my website, as well as my instagram @cosmic.cousins, where I will also be posting the images of Fifth Spirit Tarot as a video with Michael’s music in the background.

Taurus New Moon: Hierophant Tarot Soul Growth, Understanding Uranus + Saturn
Taurus New Moon I ground. I nourish. I share.
Earth Day brings us a beautiful Taurus New Moon. This offers us a time to go within and express gratitude for the practical and reliable in our lives. Some of the themes Taurus connects us to, include: agriculture, service occupations, manual labor, and anything else that we consistently rely on (but often overlook and take for granted because of Taurus' unwavering Fixed Earth dependability). This feels particularly resonant for us all right now.
In my own life, because of the precautions we are being asked to make due to COVID-19, I have (for the first time in my life) cooked all of my meals at home for over a month. This has slowed me down considerably. A new sense of awareness is emerging. I feel much more connected and grateful for all of the farmers and workers that help me stay nourished and grounded. Without them, I would not be able to support you through astrology. We are all so interconnected. 💚
This Taurus New Moon SQUARES (makes a 90° angle to) Saturn (responsibility, structure, and time) in Aquarius (community and interconnectedness). We may feel our capacity to ground, nourish, and enjoy is coming into conflict with the restrictions that have been placed on humanity.
For those of us who are more privileged, we are encouraged to realign with our most generous and humanitarian side: donating money, time, resources, or food to those in need. Last year on the podcast, we crowned Cher 'Queen of Taurus'. I find it quite appropriate the play on words: Cher and "share". Taurus is a sign of great charity, generosity, and altruism.
For those of us who may feel constricted or lacking, this New Moon could bring up deeper emotions around self-worth and lack thereof. Slower nourishing movement is encouraged. Practical decisions that take stock and inventory of your resources are preferred. Now is a time to reintegrate simple, organic, or nature-based practices into your life.
This Taurus New Moon is also CONJUNCT (hanging out with) Uranus – the planet of radical change and revolution. There will likely be unexpected opportunities to evolve in exciting new ways. In a lower-form, Uranus is connected to urgent decisions. If the desire arises to make sudden and erratic choices, take a step back and reconnect with your body and breath. In a higher-form, Uranus inundates us with new information to propel us forward into a Future aligned with our ever-evolving Higher Self. I refer to this as "Cosmic Downloads". Be open to progressive new thoughts and ideas, particularly in relationship to the more practical and reliable parts of your life.
When connecting with your body: breathe into your throat. Massage your neck. Relax your lips and jaw. Open your mouth and stretch out your tongue. Take gentle sweet care of your skin. These are all of the Taurean parts of the body. Taurus is also connected to all 5 senses, particularly sound. Hum a sacred tune. Listen to the world around you. Feel it in your body. Open yourself up to the radical unknown by grounding down in nature. All of these help to activate and awaken your 6th sense of Intuition. Taurus New Moon blessings to you all! If you'd like to learn more, there's a new podcast episode out today that goes deeper into all of these themes.

NEW WORKSHOP DOWNLOAD“SATURN LESSONS: COMMIT TO YOUR HIGHER-SELF”
PRE-ENROLLMENT OPEN
Originally, I had planned on calling this workshop “Become your own Daddy”. However, every time I went to type this phrase out, I felt a strong “No.” So, I did as Saturn would inspire, I took a step back. I gave myself the space and time to reinvestigate my intentions for holding this workshop. I placed Saturn’s tarot card out, ‘The World’, and I dropped into a meditation. That’s when I heard the whisper: “Commit to your Higher Self”.
Traditionally, Saturn is the planet of restriction + limitation. Saturn’s themes include: responsibility, obstacles, hard work, commitment, authority, structures, tradition, old age, time, and yes, “daddy” or father.
In my own practice, I refer to Saturn as the “Planet of Spiritual Adult-ing”. Saturn’s placement in your Birth Chart will indicate where soul-growth occurs throughout your lifetime, encouraging you to step up to the podium of your “Higher Self”.
I believe this workshop to be quite timely, as Saturn has now moved into the Collective Air sign of Aquarius. We have strongly been feeling this transition globally, as the world has shifted due to Covid-19.
Saturn in Aquarius is an invitation for us to commit to humanity, take responsibility for community, and to use the internet like an adult. Aquarius also rules over astrology, offering us a deeper invitation toward engaging with astrology as a tool to be taken seriously.
If you are longing to go deeper with Saturn, this workshop is for you. In thi...

Scorpio Full Moon 🥀 – I harness. I release. I transform.
Scorpio Full Moon I harness. I release. I transform.
Heightened emotion and psychic receptivity. Long kept secrets revealed. This Scorpio Full Moon will likely dig up some Deeper Truths. If these new discoveries are painful or bring up uncomfortable emotions, trust that whatever arises is meant to be illuminated for the evolution and realignment of you.
In the world around us, this Scorpio Full Moon may have us all feeling a bit more intense or sensitive, as we are highly attuned to unseen forces at play. This makes us quite adept in our ability to peer into the mysteries of it all. New information is likely to emerge around themes of sexuality and power, particularly as it relates to government, authority, career, and the environment (Scorpio's ruling planet Pluto is in Capricorn).
Be mindful of who you interact and engage with around these topics. You may be more magnetically drawn toward outdated patterns: self-sabotage, drugs and alcohol, power dynamics, sexual compulsion, co-dependency, obsession, conspiracy, secrecy and even manipulation. With sharp discernment and precision, consciously focus your energy on healing. By doing so, you hold space (Fixed) for the emotional transformation (Water) to occur. *Use the 'King of Cups' in the tarot to meditate on the Fixed Water embodiment.
The Fixed Water modality of the Scorpio Full Moon can have of us holding on to emotion. This lower vibration of Fixed Water manifests as depression, repressed rage, jealousy, holding grudges, seeking revenge, or trying to gain control or power over our emotions. If this is the case, spend time with or around water to help you release any stagnation. We may also be more susceptible to storing other people's emotions or energies. Be weary of "energy vampires" or toxic individuals or environments. Practice spiritual hygiene. Set clear boundaries. Be sure to cleanse your space and call upon assistance from your guides.
What parts of yourself are ready to die? Tune in and acknowledge these parts. But be gentle. Death is a slow and sensual process. Find a healthy outlet for processing the grief of this death-rebirth cycle. Ritual, ancestral work, altar building, tarot reading, journaling, therapy, deep conversations with a trusted friend, sexual healing, and ceremonial expression like painting, poetry, chanting, or music are all highly recommended at this time.
This is also a great time to be alone. Scorpio energy invites us into a more internal landscape. What would Georgia O'Keeffe do? (Cosmic Cousin's 'Queen of Scorpio'). O'Keeffe left New York City and moved to the middle of the desert where she transformed her grief into beautiful portraits of bones, landscapes, and flowers–reflecting on themes of Life & Death. Allow her life to be a metaphor of how to navigate the energies of the Full Moon. Deepen your esoteric studies or creative pursuits. Engage with and honor the four elements. Light a candle. Take a bath. Massage your body. Take deep breathes. If able, spend time in nature. She is here to help us with this transformation. Blessed be!
