45. Lets have a Sensible Nuanced Conversation About the Value of DEI Certifications

In this episode, Ashanti Bentil - Dhue dives into the value of the necessity for DEI certifications.

“They want to know whether you are competent, when they're hiring you for time, or for a particular project externally. They want to know what the return on investment is, when I hear a lot of people speak about return on investment is very flaky, very fluffy, very high level. They're not talking about business transformations at all. They're not able to articulate tangible outcomes for our business for the piece of work they're working on. That is a problem that goes back to competency here. It's not enough to just say, because it's the right thing to do”

Episode Highlights:

  • The various reason a DEI practitioner may need a certification
  • Do certifications prove the competency level of a DEI practitioner
  • What to look for when hiring a competent DEI practitioner
