Our 7 point framework for evaluating collections:

  • Aesthetics / visuals
    • Is the work appealing? Does it pass your "eye test?"
  • Artist
    • Does the artist have a following? Do they engage with their community?
    • Is the artist charismatic or captivating in some other way?
    • Does the artist thoughtfully release pieces so as to not dilute early collectors?
  • Holders
    • Are there influential collectors / artists / investors or others who own this collection and hold it in high esteem?
  • Sentiment
    • What did people (in particular the influential holders) say about the collection before it launched? Immediately afterwards? Over time?
  • Collection breadth
    • Does the collection feel cohesive together? Do pieces feel unique yet still connected to the collection as a whole?
  • Historic significance (or potential for historic significance)
    • Is this collection historic in some way (e.g. started a new trend) or does it have the potential to do so?
  • Price action
    • Have floor and sales prices risen over time (ignoring the general volatility of the market)?
    • Has volume decreased (indicating pieces finding their way to long-term holders)?
