Bethany Schrock (BethCath) - Discovering More to Life than Hustling
Today's guest is Bethany Schrock, also known as Beth Cath. Bethany is a creative director and also runs her own photography business in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bethany is also a dear friend of mine and someone who has taught me how to find joy despite whatever circumstance you're in. In today's episode, Bethany gets real with us. She shares her scariest moment of running a business which she started at age 17, and her story of how her life got flipped upside down when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. We talk about putting our identity in work, in pleasing people, and wondering if we are still enough. I hope this episode encourages and reminds all of us that there is more to life than hustling, and can be relatable as we all have had moments where we questioned - is God still good? Tune in to hear:(6:00) How Bethany and I met (9:50) her passion and business (11:00) her rule of giving her best always and treating every project the same (12:30) how she started her business (15:25) her favorite project (17:00) her lowest point running her business (21:00) learning from her mistakes (24:00) putting her identity in hustling and work and then getting diagnosed with a brain tumor (28:00) feeling hopeless and worthless and figuring out where her identity really lies (35:00) realizing only a few things in her life mattered - and it wasn't her job or her social media (37:00) getting surgery and miraculously getting the whole tumor out (38:40) how her relationship with God changed from this experience (41:25) her honeycomb

Hannah Brencher (TED Speaker & Author) - Grow Your Character, Not Your Following
Today we have Hannah Brencher. Hannah is a writer and a speaker. She has been on the TED talk stage, written two books, and has been featured on Oprah, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today, and dozens of other publications. I am SO excited to share today's episode with you all today, and it's the type of conversations that inspired me to start a podcast. Whenever I had a great coffee date, there were multiple times I wish I could record it, bottle it up, and share it with friends, and I'm so glad this one is recorded. In today's episode, Hannah talks about her newest book, Come Matter Here, and gives us a behind-the-scenes look at her writing process, she also talks about anxiety, depression, social media, and digging into scripture. The meat of the conversation today is about the importance of building your character and a firm foundation, not a following, not a platform, not a brand. Hannah gets really honest and vulnerable with us, and I appreciate her wisdom in that success and fame in this world will not satisfy.
