Coding 101 (Audio) - C101 95: WS2812 - FastLED sample project
play

12/07/15 • 69 min

To make FastLED work with an array of WS2812 LEDs, there are five basic pieces that Padre discusses with Mark "Smitty" Smith

Quick Notes:

  • The power regulator on an Arduino can provide ~500ma if you're giving it at least 7v of power
  • If you're powering it from USB, it's closer to 400ma
  • Each LED can pull UP TO 60ma (20ma per color)
  • If you're going to power a long strand of LEDs, you want to use an external power source.
