Kong Hee: The Cost of Following Jesus
02/12/20 • 86 min
Building upon his first message on following Jesus, Kong Hee teaches that there is a cost to following Christ—it is not an easy thing. As Jesus said in Luke 9:23, we are firstly to deny ourselves, and then to follow Him. Denying oneself is to not give in to unrighteous cravings. Pastor Kong details how to resist and repudiate self-gratification, self-vindication and self-exaltation like Jesus did in Matthew 4—we can't do it without the Holy Spirit. Next, we are to follow Jesus, which is to develop the nine fruit of the Spirit. Listen to this sermon and discover how you can begin to be a follower of Jesus by doing the opposite of what the self wants, and doing as Jesus did.

Kong Hee: Following Jesus
In his first sermon of 2020, Kong Hee sets the direction for the year with a sermon about the central theme of the New Testament: to follow Jesus. God's ultimate desire is that we imitate Jesus, and become like Him in every dimension of our lives. Pastor Kong shows through Scripture how holiness is synonymous with Christlikeness, and that Christlikeness is the nine fruit of the Spirit. These nine fruit are impossible to attain in our human strength, that is why we urgently need the Holy Spirit. Listen to this sermon and discover that bearing fruit doesn't mean achieving successes, but truly following Jesus and bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Following/imitating Jesus is a call to bear the fruit of the Spirit. This is more important/greater than all the successes we can ever achieve in our life/career/ministry.

Bobby Chaw: Psalm 3—Prayer in Troubled Times
Pastor Bobby Chaw teaches us how to pray at a time when things seem hopeless, by drawing from King David's prayer in Psalm 3. David was at his lowest point, running away from his son Absalom who wanted to kill him. Pastor Bobby shows us four things about David here: he was completely honest with God about his sorrows and fears; he turned his focus entirely on God and remembered that God was his shield; and he trusted so much in the Lord that even in the face of torment he slept, and he expected God to do what is consistent to his nature. Enjoy this full service and be encouraged by this sermon that having done all, we can stand knowing salvation belongs to the Lord.
