Walking in the power and divine life of God requires brokenness in the life of a believer. When something is broken, it gets tossed out because it has lost its usefulness. But for the believer, “invited brokenness” is where we will find God’s transforming power. This is the kind of brokenness that causes us to be aware of how sinful and flawed we are, and how the love of God can heal us and lead us to a life of complete dependence on Him. God wants us to come before Him without false pretence, but in complete honesty and brokenness. Just like how Mary broke the jar to release the fragrance of the anointing oil, true brokenness releases the presence of God within us to touch us and position us to reign with Christ.

As Christmas draws near, we are reminded of our mission to bring the lost to Christ. In this sermon, Wu Yu Zhuang brings us to the story of Rahab the harlot, who was counted in Hebrews as a hero of faith because she did not only save the spies, but she did three key things to attain the survival of her whole family. Building upon his first message on following Jesus, Kong Hee teaches that there is a cost to following Christ—it is not an easy thing. As Jesus said in Luke 9:23, we are firstly to deny ourselves, and then to follow Him. Denying oneself is to not give in to unrighteous cravings. Pastor Kong details how to resist and repudiate self-gratification, self-vindication and self-exaltation like Jesus did in Matthew 4—we can't do it without the Holy Spirit. Next, we are to follow Jesus, which is to develop the nine fruit of the Spirit.
