In a recent podcast episode, Daily Wire host Matt Walsh stated that he didn't believe that pornography addiction was real. Furthermore, for those who struggled with that habit he claimed the only useful advice was to "Just stop it".

While willpower is important, that advice isn't terribly useful. In this video I give 10 practical, biblical tips for someone struggling with a pornography addiction.

More importantly, I give the gospel of the forgiveness of sin through Christ's death, something Walsh neglected to include.

Christian Combatives - "Jesus Revolution" Movie Review (Feat: Dad)
play

03/22/23 • 77 min

"Jesus Revolution" has made significant waves in many Christian communities. But is this just a case of applause automatically being heaped on a movie that portrays Christianity positively by those who are tired of the regular disdain Hollywood normally shows towards Christians? Or is it actually a good movie?

I'm joined by my father, also an LCMS pastor, to first discuss our expectations based on the trailer. Later in the video we take a break to see the movie, and then return to give our assessment afterwards of the characters, the themes, the entertainment value, and most importantly, the theology.

If you're interested in speculation about this movie, feel free to just listen to the first portion, but if you'd like a post-viewing analysis feel free to stick around for the whole thing.

Christian Combatives - Theosis, Antinomianism, and Catholic Guilt Feat Dad
play

03/29/23 • 51 min

Theosis is when Christians become more like God, Antinomianism is the belief that the Law does not apply to Christians, and Catholic Guilt is basically the polar opposite of that.

I'm joined by my father, a former Roman Catholic, and current LCMS pastor, to discuss these topics and the concept of Sanctification and the relation between a Christian's faith, works, and salvation.

How do you know the Holy Spirit is present? Will you feel it? How much should your emotions be involved in your worship? Can you tell if you are saved based on how you feel?

In this episode we are joined by Alabast to talk about the Asbury revival, revivals in general and how much one should expect emotion and worship to overlap.

Finally, the good people on the ChristCord discord server provide some questions of their own that we answer live. Discord.gg/Christian

Christian Combatives - Stop LARPing as a Christian TradChad!
play

03/02/23 • 39 min

So you want to be a based Christian TradChad, how do you start? By buying a Templar helmet and listening to Little Dark Age on repeat? How about by reading your Bible and going to church?

Christianity as a fashion choice is not a new thing, but as each generation wants to be counter-cultural, the new trend to be confidently Christian may be confused with those who are only interested in the religion as stylistic identity.

In this episode we talk about the Christian Counter-Culture, trends of racism/kinism in Christianity as well as the CRT/BLM/anti-racist movement as a false dichotomy. What does the Bible say?

Finally, the good people on the ChristCord discord server provide some questions of their own that we answer live.

Often it can feel divisive to insist on specifics of Lutheran theology, after all, wouldn't it be easier to get along with others if we overlooked the things that make us different?

But if Christ was specific with His love for us, then we have an obligation to be specific in how we act out our love for others, in what we practice, believe, and teach.

This might be the most chaotic episode title yet. Best case scenario, you get to hear about the Gospel and maybe a perspective you haven't considered. Worst case scenario, you hear the most absurd take on the most bizarre combination of issues you've ever encountered.

What do you have to lose?
