Cheaper Than Therapy with Vanessa and Dené

In this episode we sit down with Dr. Corey Emanuel. Corey is a writer, producer, author, mentor, and thought influencer with a Masters in Communication and PhD in Media Psychology. He’s the founder of Corey Emanuel Omnimedia, a Los Angeles based full-service production company, as well as founder of the social movement Men Talking Shift. Corey is passionately dedicated to using entertainment and media as vehicles to tell stories that inform, inspire, educate, and promote self-actualization. We spoke with Corey about how he uses his platforms to speak about taboo topics that men don’t often see normalized in the media, how deeply impacted we all are by the wounded masculine energy of our culture, using media psychology as a gateway to support the masses in seeking mental health support, and the way that storytelling can create inclusive spaces for healing. Corey has such a soulful and inspiring presence and we know you’ll be as excited about the work he’s doing as we are! You can find Corey on Instagram @coreyemanuel, on TikTok @officialcoreyemanuel or on his website coreyemanuel.com. If you love the conversations we’re bringing you as much as we do, please subscribe, rate and write a review so we can get the podcast out to even more people!

Ep 60 Embracing the Messy - Live Coaching Session

In this live coaching session, we speak with Carla about the dating patterns she’s feeling reemerge after doing a lot of hard work while single.

We explore building the muscles of taking the brave step of speaking to our needs, how sometimes an emotional cutt-off can be the easier choice than a tough conversation, the fact that someone’s ability to hold space for our vulnerability is critical information about their emotional capacity, and the healing that can come from showing someone our “messy parts” and working through the hurt with them instead of hiding those parts and doing it alone.

Ep 62 Navigating Self-Abandonment

In this episode, we discuss self-abandonment and all the different ways it shows up. We share stories of our personal experiences with self-abandonment and what they’ve taught us. We talk about some of the implicit and explicit messages we receive in childhood, how an attempt to control our environment is often the consistent theme underneath most of our maladaptive behaviors, the extent to which a patriarchal society pushes us to feel unsafe being our authentic selves, and what you can expect from our upcoming virtual retreat. There’s still time to join us at our upcoming LIVE virtual retreat, “From Self Abandonment to Inner Belonging” on June 25-27, 2021. Visit vanessabennett.com/retreats for more information.
