Join me, Kellye, as I continue peeling back the layers of a complex triple homicide that rocked a small town to its core. This episode sees us navigating the treacherous waters of Lee John's fragmented memory, a suspect whose recollections are as shaded by darkness as the night of the crime itself. We scrutinize the tangled history of family tensions, substance abuse, and the fateful celebration that ended in an irreversible tragedy. Each statement, each piece of evidence, is held up to the light, as we wrestle with the task of discerning reality from Lee John's own blurred lines of truth.
The plot thickens with every conflicting testimony and every potential hidden motive that bubbles to the surface. From Debbie's arrest for obstruction to Lee John's intoxicated run from the law, the story unfolds like a chilling jigsaw puzzle whose pieces don't quite fit. We're faced with a labyrinth of deception as Debbie's evolving statements during intense police interrogations clash with the grim forensic findings. As experts dissect the mechanics of the crime, the narrative spun by the accused is called into question, leaving us grasping for clarity in the midst of mayhem.
As the gavel falls and the court delivers its verdict, we take you inside the courtroom drama that's as fraught with inconsistencies as the investigation itself. Despite the absence of blood evidence and a confession that doesn't quite fit, a jury reaches a decisive conclusion. But the story doesn't end there; Lee John's fight for justice continues as he navigates the appeals process, challenging his life sentence on constitutional grounds. This episode isn't just a recounting of events—it's a journey through the very heart of a legal enigma that refuses to yield its secrets easily.

**TRIGGER WARNING** This case involves the death of a juvenile. Listener Discretion is advised.
Can you envisage a father using his own son as a pawn in a most horrifying game of chess? In our recent episode, we navigate the murky waters of a chilling 1995 New Year's Eve murder case that left the Morehouse Parish community of Bastrop, Louisiana in utter shock. We recount the tale of a man named Mark Morris, his daughter, and the tragic discovery of his son's body a month after their grandparents' murder.
We continue by dissecting Mark's unsettlingly detailed knowledge of the murders, a factor that thrust him into the cross-hairs of the police. We reflect on his arrest, his defiant stance during interviews, and the exasperatingly complex legal proceedings that ensued. Mark's defense strategy, a desperate claim of innocence and a plea that someone else committed the crime, forms a poignant part of our discussion. We also take a deep look into the potential motive behind this heinous act - a half a million dollar inheritance hanging in the balance.
Finally, we delve into the riveting trial details, witness testimonies, and the jury's final verdict. We examine the psychological implications of such an atrocious crime - the ability to disconnect from the victims and the desperate attempts to throw investigators off the trail. This episode uncovers a tale of greed, guilt, and unimaginable horror that will leave you questioning the very nature of humanity itself. Listen in and grapple with the haunting reality of a father allegedly using his own son as leverage in a murder case.

Podcast Q&A
Why did you start this show?
I kept catching myself telling anyone who would listen about these cases I had come across in whatever way and decided to be able to get them out of my brain and maybe actually tell someone who WANTED to hear them, I should start a podcast!
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
Information is invaluable and maybe a little bit of legal knowledge too. I’m not a lawyer, but I do find law absolutely fascinating and I try to integrate some sort of legal issue or procedure/process in every episode.
Which episode should someone start with?
Any episode! (Unless it has “Part” in the title, anywhere you want!!) That’s the beauty of an episodic podcast. You can pick and choose or go in order! However you please!
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
I think my favorite…that’s tough because I literally started this podcast because of the case involving Lee John Ponthieux and Debbie Adams (Echoes of Evil Series) so that story alone held my brain captive for over a year before I was able to get it out to the world of true crime. However, I also really enjoyed researching the Brian Horn case, although the crime itself was horrendous, there were just so many twisty turns legal issues and then hidden gems of information that I came across, A++
Which episode are you most proud of?
Definitely any of the series, those take a toll and take some time and I always feel a major sense of accomplishment when they’re totally and finally complete.
What is your vision for your show?
Just to continue sharing these Louisiana true crime stories as long as people want to listen! We have an exciting year planned and I can’t wait to hear from our listeners where we’re doing well and where we can improve!
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
Oh my. I love love love Southern Fried True Crime with Erica Kelly and of course Buried Bones with Paula Holes. 🤩
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
That’s too easy. CenLAw = ‘Cen’tral ‘LouisianA’ “where true crime meets the legal system!” ‘law’ So basically Central/Louisiana Law & True Crime Podcast!
Tell us a bit about yourself
Mother of two beautiful children. Daughter 10 and son 1 1/2 as of today(04.14.25) and I work within the legal system in Louisiana and I find all things law, statues and how to navigate through the world of crime & justice as well as being an avid fan of forensics and all things true crime show/podcast & movie/documentary related from a very early age. It’s my pleasure and honestly my version of “me time” to get to create and share these stories though this podcast so thank you!!
