In my opinion, job seekers are far too confident when it comes to their ability to interview. The reality is that most folks are just average at interviewing. However, for you, the career warriors aiming for the top positions, I’m calling you to be the best interviewee you can be.

Just to start out some things, here are some fun facts about the job interview process:

  1. According to Forbes, you only have seven seconds to make a strong first impression.
  2. 67% of recruiters believe that maintaining eye contact is essential for making a positive impression (Jobspin).
  3. 82% of hiring managers employ virtual interviews (Indeed).

So, consider this episode an opportunity to pick up a thing or two about those interviews you may or may not hate. This may be the thing...

Welcome to our second podcast. We are resurrecting The Career Warrior Podcast (formerly LEG Job Seeker's Podcast) for good (in honor of this Easter season)! The goal of the podcast series is to spread best job seeking practices to those hunting for their dream job. We will be (hopefully) posting once a week due to the success of our last podcast.

Listen to this podcast and we will touch upon the emotional challenges of changing careers –desperation, anxiety, loneliness-- as well as how to overcome them. We will also touch upon the logistics of a career transition, and what it takes to be successful. I brought on Clara Chorley, a top-producing Career Coach.

Here are some fun facts about Clara:

•Clara Chorley has worked and traveled through 44 countries and 5 continents, with organizations as diverse as (fortune 500) Ernst and Young - and the (humanitarian non-profit) Millennium Village Project in Africa.

•Much more than just a careered businesswoman, Clara has founded her own business Clarity Unlimited to help professionals find jobs and build businesses that fulfill them so they can have the impact they want to with their lives. •After a long, winding journey through more than 10 careers she finally figured out her own purposeful work, and by sharing her story, has been helping other professionals do the same — but in much less time — for the last decade.

To connect with Clara on the phone, please follow this link: https://www.clarityunlimited.com/coaching-for-leaders/

You will want to listen to this podcast if any of the following applies to you:

We’re going to be covering some eating fundamentals during this podcast--what you should CUT OUT, ADD in, and supplement if you want to feel better at work. I’m going to do my best to make it practical, because I know how incredibly hard it is to stay on the wagon.

7-day challenge mentioned in the episode:

  • Cut out refined carbohydrates and processed foods completely!
  • Replace with healthy complex carbs that give you more sustained energy (e.g. overnight oats)
  • Eat 7 SERVINGS of fruits and vegetables per day (DON'T SKIP!)
  • Increase EPA / DHA intake by eating food high in omega 3 (salmon)
  • Cut down alcohol + caffeine intake (likely no more than 2 drinks per day).
  • Increase water intake.

Don't forget to record how you feel on a daily basis (scale of 1-10). Seven days is only the start; continue doing this and keep up with most of the eating for the next 30 days to really feel the results!

For our 39th MASHUP episode, we tackle the theme of rejection and how to overcome its negative aspects.

The fact is... rejection is a part of life!

It cannot be avoided, and it's something that everyone goes through.

And at the risk of sounding like a self-help guru, how we HANDLE that rejection determines the quality and outcome of our lives.

Go ahead and give adversity a nice slap in the face -- and tune in to this episode whenever you feel you need the extra push.
