A lot of things can cause us to get imposter syndrome
A few examples:
- School or work pressure
- Childhood experiences (constantly being criticized)
- Perfectionism

- Mental health disorders (examples: OCD, Anxiety)
- Success - achieved it but feel you don't deserve it

- Major life changes
- Societal expectations
I've personally struggled with imposter syndrome many times.
Sometimes it's a phase of life that it something I had to work through for extended periods of time (Example - layoff )
Others it may pop up quickly and temporarily (Example - working on website)

- Fear of failure (analysis paralysis)
- Lack of self-development or motivation to do any

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
- Own it / acknowledge it
- Talk about it
- Retrain your mind (correct self-doubting thoughts, turn them into affirmations and keep repeating them)
- Ask for help/support
- Learn to accept praise
- Take time for mindfulness and / or meditation
- Set realistic goals
- Learn to be flexible (goals, perfectionism)
- Learn new skills
- May want or need to get help from a counselor or therapist, etc.
- Facts vs feelings (great review vs feeling like you're not doing enough)
- Embrace failure and the lessons it brings
- Remind yourself of whats important to you
- Recognize and stop the spiral
- Talk to yourself how you'd talk to your best friend (kindness, compassion)
