CONTENT WARNING: There is some mention of sexual assault in this episode due to a minor character in Con Air. On this episode of CAGE/OFF we crack open some Francis Coppola chardonnay and talk about two movies where Nicolas Cage plays an ex-con: the over-the-top action blockbuster Con Air (1997) and the recent VOD revenge movie A Score to Settle (2019). Can the little-seen modern Cage film prevail against one of the most memed Cage performances of all time? You probably already know the answer to that, but it’s fun to pretend! Enjoy!

This week on CAGE/OFF we begin winding down the first round of the Zeus's Butthole conference by talking about two movies nobody has seen! First, we talk about Fire Birds (1990), a film that dares to ask the question: what if Top Gun, but helicopters? Then we discuss Nicolas Cage's directorial debut Sonny (2002), a mostly bad film centered around a male prostitute (James Franco) trying to get out from under the thumb of his brothel-running mother. Cage himself also has a small cameo as a character named "Acid Yellow". Also in this episode: how Tommy Wiseau wanted James Franco to play him in The Disaster Artist after seeing his Sonny performance, Ashley has been spiritually defeated by Nicolas Cage movies, and we reveal the films we will be covering in Season 3!

On today’s episode of CAGE/OFF, we complete the trilogy of Nicolas Cage’s collaborations with his uncle Francis with The Cotton Club (1984), a part-musical, part-crime film about the Harlem jazz scene in the 20s and 30s. Then, we go POWEEEEEER MAAAAAD talking about David Lynch’s violent and darkly comic road film Wild at Heart (1990) before deciding which film will be moving on in the bracket! We also discuss which Nic Cage/Francis Coppola film is our favorite, sing the praises of the absolute legend Crispin Glover, and generally gush about Wild at Heart. Thanks for listening!

On a very spooOOOooOOooky episode of CAGE/OFF recorded on Halloween, we are hanging out in a scary basement with a sleepy dog and talking about two EXTREMELY SIMILAR films: the trippy, gore-soaked horror-revenge movie Mandy (2018) and Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018), a silly animated comedy movie made for babies. We discuss how Mandy sparked renewed interest in Nicolas Cage from the mainstream, how Teen Titans finally allowed Cage to play Superman, and Logan attempts to get to the bottom of Ashley's visceral hatred towards Teen Titans Go! (the show). Follow us on Twitter @cageoffpodcast Our artwork is by Colours Odyssey (@coloursody on Twitter) Our intro/outro music is by Mastad0n Rate and review us on Apple Podcasts!

On today's episode of CAGE/OFF we are joined by Mike and Jess from the Cage/Fight Podcast (@cagefightpod) to discuss of final match-up of the Zeus's Butthole conference before our season finale: the part-live action, part-CGI animated Disney film G-Force (2009) about guinea pigs who want to be cops, and the home invasion thriller Trespass (2011), directed by the late great Joel Schumacher. Will we be persuaded to join G-Force Gang, or will the thrills and chills of Nicolas Cage being cucked by a pool boy win the day? There's only one way to find out!

On today's episode of CAGE/OFF we have a double dose of war and friendship! We are discussing Racing with the Moon (1984) and Birdy (1984); in the former Nicolas Cage plays Sean Penn's horny best bud and in the latter he takes center stage, coping with the aftermath of the Vietnam War on himself and his bird-obsessed best friend. But which performance will be deserving of moving on in the bracket? Listen to find out! Also in this episode: the introduction of the Tank Top Tracker, an attempt at a new end-of-show segment, and lots of talk about Nic Cage's sweet bod.

This week on CAGE/OFF we talk Francis Ford Coppola's time travel dramedy Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) and then travel in time (get it?) ten years to discuss The Rock (1996), the sophomore film by director Michael Bay which officially kicked off the era of Nicolas Cage: Action Star. We discuss his roles in both films, the behind-the-scenes drama between Cage and "Peggy Sue" star Kathleen Turner, and Logan rambles on about The Rock for way too long. Also, Sean Connery impressions.
