Getting the Fuck Started:
Impulsivity is the method in which I use to just get shit done. If I plan and schedule when I intend to execute a plan it often never goes through. I’ve either said yes to getting ice cream with a tinder bae, felt bloated, and basking in the nude seemed a lot more promising or simply didn’t freakin’ feel like it. Which to me are prominent reasons not to join my bible study group in a zoom call, exercise at 7 AM, and do the other productive beneficial shit Oprah does! I justify my laziness, as my mother calls it, and rename it with self-care so that it seems as if I am doing something when I am actually doing nothing. Slick, huh? I have 50 million ideas and can’t start one unless I write it down on a vision board and decorate with some inspirationally liberating shit by Andrew Carnegie like “If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.” wow, that was refreshing just saying it. When wanting to drive the boat (boat being your plans) it often seems that the results of your work just won’t be fast enough or that an avalanche of haters will come and misconstrue every positive implication. But that hesitation, the fear of not being the next Yara Shahidi, chelsea handler or even Barack Obama should not be the driving force of becoming the next best you. Society has embedded these traditional milestones that has fucked everyone up. If you are not a one year old and an executive producer of a hit song like DJ Khalids son Asahd what are you doing with your life. The answer to that should be, I am doing the best that I can, with what I can and that for me is enough. Starting your bachelors degree at 30 is okay. Getting married at 50 is okay and starting your passion focused business after quitting a 7 figure income job at 47 is also okay. Do it at your pace and let love be the driving force of your goals...everything else will follow. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/brownsugarandcoffee/message
