Despite a lifetime of breaking the rules, twelve-year-old Issa Igwe never expected to land in witch prison. At least that’s what she calls The Siren School outside of its hallowed halls. It’s actually the country’s most prestigious boarding school for magically gifted girls, and Issa’s parents insist that she attend . . . even though the school’s creepy history is the stuff of legend.
When a devastating loss overturns Issa’s world, Issa decides to break one of her new school’s biggest rules of all: she’s going to use bitter magic to turn back time. To succeed, she must snatch sleep-inducing feathers from the backs of magical creatures, sneak out while avoiding the Night Children—whoever they are—and even raise the dead. Her nighttime explorations bring the school’s darkest secrets to light, and reveal a new power within Issa herself. It turns out that a rule-breaker might be just what The Siren School needs to undo an ancient evil . . .
This spooky and delightfully magical middle grade companion novel to The Fall of the House of Tatterly introduces an indomitable heroine and an unforgettable school of magic based in hoodoo and Gullah Geechee culture.

Podcast Q&A
Why did you start this show?
We like talking about books! There's just something so invigorating about a good story discussion. And we were all writing majors in college. Which is why we also treat our episodes like a workshop: noting things we thought worked really well, suggesting different courses of action, and critiquing things that just didn't fit.
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
We hope that you realize it doesn't take an education to be critical and that you can have your own definition of engaging with a story. One of Jess's favorite theories is Reader Response. It means that you bring your life and your experience to everything you read. We hope we help you gain confidence into your own view of things.
Which episode should someone start with?
We think one of our best discussions so far was for THIS FATAL KISS by Alicia Jasinska. We had a lot of thoughts, theories, and ships for that one. Alternatively, our discussion on THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF TATTERLY by Shanna Miles was also a lot of fun.
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
Our favorite episodes that we've recorded so far have been the conclusion episodes when we get to talk about EVERYTHING in the books we've read.
Which episode are you most proud of?
We're most proud of our interviews. We pride ourselves on making sure our guests are comfortable with a special interviewee guide, we play fun games, and we talk about books, craft, and go out of our way to find out silly things about our author guests.
What is your vision for your show?
We hope to get our Discord server up and running, interview plenty of authors each season, and if we get enough subscribers we would love to do a live podcast at some of the amazing book conventions out there.
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
Goosebuds is a good one. Fantasy Fangirls is another. We're also big fans of story podcasts like Ad Lucem and Case 63. Anything that gives us a good experience is an A+ in our books.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
Well, Jessica likes puns. But also, we're all night owls here. In fact, the logo for Booked All Night used to be a group of owls. But we've changed a bunch of things in our relaunch.
Tell us a bit about yourself
You can find out more about us on our website but the quick run down is: Jess: Owns the podcast and handles the socials, editing, and emails Katy: Writes reviews, convinces us to read adult titles, and remains a voice of reason Maggie: chaos gremlin TM, goes out of their way to find us amazing queer reads, and writes reviews on the site Producer Rob produces the show, keeps us from babbling for hours on end, helps with the harder edits, puts up with our fangirling, and pets his cats
