S6 Ep. 8 Raoul Moat - Britain's Biggest Manhunt
02/18/24 • 59 min
This week's episode is the case of one of the biggest and public manhunts in modern British history, the hunt for Raoul Moat.
When Raoul Moat was released from Durham prison in July 2010 little did the authorities know what hell would be unleashed for the local community. For Moat had a plan, a terrible plan to exact revenge on his ex-girlfriend, her new partner and the Northumbria police force.
Two days after his release he stalked and shot Samantha, the mother of his daughter, almost killing her and killing Samantha's partner, Chris Brown.
He then went on to declare war on the police and shot traffic officer, PC David Rathband in the face.
Moat fled to the picturesque town of Rothbury, 30 miles north of Newcastle, nestled in the Northumberland national park.
What followed then was nothing short of real-time updates as the worlds media descended on the small town, providing minute-by-minute news coverage of the biggest manhunt in recent British history.
After some days of being on the run, Moat was finally cornered and as the eyes of the world turned to watch the conclusion, there could only ever be one fatal outcome...

S6 Ep. 7 - Gordon Cummins - The Blackout Ripper
Hello and welcome to episode 7 of Bloody Britain and this week please allow Caz and Loz to take you back to Blitz torn London.
The year is 1942 and Hitler is doing his best to annihilate Great Britain, with a relentless bombing campaign, known as 'The Blitz'. Londoners had to keep lighting to a minimum and everyone was ordered to keep the City of London in total darkness, so as to not create an obvious target for the Luftwaffe. Of course, total darkness is a criminals dream come true and domestic crime soared during this period.
And for one week in February that year, the iconic streets of London's West End were stalked by a predator known as the Blackout Ripper. No woman was safe and in a very short amount of time the culprit, a fighter pilot called Gordon Cummins, would take the lives of four women and attack two more.
We hope you enjoy this week's case L & C 💙💙
