Blue Murder Club - S6 Ep. 6 - The White House Farm Murders

S6 Ep. 6 - The White House Farm Murders

01/21/24 • 64 min

Blue Murder Club

This week's episode is all about the case of the murders of the Bamber family at their home, White House Farm.

It was the 1980's the time of the hedonistic Yuppy, where wealth was flashed and 'greed was good'. The adoptive son of the respectable Neville and June Bamber, Jeremy, was surely the quintessential city boy, rich, good looking, popular and charismatic. His sister, Sheila was a beautiful model, and mother of twin boys and was also part of the London party scene.

Life appeared good for the Bamber family, at least on the surface, however underneath it all there lied mental illness, conflict and jealousy.

One fateful August evening Jeremy received a frantic phone call from his father, begging for help as Sheila had gone mad with a shotgun at the farmhouse. When the police finally made their way inside it was a bloodbath, every single member of the family had been shot dead, including Sheila's twin sons and then it appeared that in a final act of desperation, Sheila had turned the gun on herself. The police quickly came to the conclusion of a murder - suicide, the tragic result of her psychological difficulties.

Not long after the funeral, suspicions surrounding Jeremy grew until eventually he would be charged and convicted of the murders at the farmhouse. He remains in jail until this day and still protests his innocence, claiming to be a victim of injustice.

Caz and Loz investigate this most complex case and ask, what do you think happened at White House Farm?

S6 Ep. 5 - The Beast of Birkenshaw - Peter Manuel

Arguably, Peter Manuel was Scotland's first widely known serial killer and one of the last men to be hung for his crimes.

Join us this week as Lozza and Cazza cover this case from the 1950's. It is a most heinous story of crime, robbery, murder.... and bizarrely, tinned fruit.

Peter Manuel killed multiple young women and families and got away with it for far too long with help from his father who again and again alibied him. In the age old debate of nature vs nurture we think this is absolutely nature and that he was born bad.

S6 Ep. 7 - Gordon Cummins - The Blackout Ripper

Hello and welcome to episode 7 of Bloody Britain and this week please allow Caz and Loz to take you back to Blitz torn London.

The year is 1942 and Hitler is doing his best to annihilate Great Britain, with a relentless bombing campaign, known as 'The Blitz'. Londoners had to keep lighting to a minimum and everyone was ordered to keep the City of London in total darkness, so as to not create an obvious target for the Luftwaffe. Of course, total darkness is a criminals dream come true and domestic crime soared during this period.

And for one week in February that year, the iconic streets of London's West End were stalked by a predator known as the Blackout Ripper. No woman was safe and in a very short amount of time the culprit, a fighter pilot called Gordon Cummins, would take the lives of four women and attack two more.

We hope you enjoy this week's case L & C 💙💙
