Bless This Mess: A Southern True Crime Podcast

Bless This Mess: A Southern True Crime Podcast

Bless This Mess

Hey y’all! We are a husband and wife team from Louisiana that discuss murder, mystery, and mayhem with a southern twist!
We cover true crime throughout the South, so pull up a rocking chair, grab your mason jar full of sweet tea, and sit for a spell while we chit chat, and laugh some about this crazy world we live in. If you are ok with some banter and a few well placed f-bombs, you are in the right place and we are glad you are here!
Now if banter and cussing are not for you and you just want us to get to the point, check out our weekly release ”A Little Less Mess” where we cover the same stories but with no added chit chat or humor.

Oh geez or (cheese?)! We know, Wisconsin is not in the South but Cara was not feeling well these last two weeks so we had to pull an older episode we had written that was going to be part of our Road Trip series. So to Wisconsin we go where Barbara Kendhammer is killed in a freak car accident but as police look further into the evidence, maybe it wasn't an accident after all...
Fun Fact: Wisconsin's state symbol, the badger, doesn't refer to the animal but instead to the 1820s lead miners who traveled for work and dug tunnels to sleep in and keep warm, much like a badger!

Charles and Diane Parker were pillars of their community in small town South Carolina. One day, they are found murdered in their farmhouse. It would take years to find someone guilty of the crime, but did police get the right person?
Fun Fact: Although Georgia is known as "The Peach State," South Carolina actually produces more peaches than any other state east of the Mississippi. Nationally, it is second to California...maybe Stew was right, don't tell him!

We are headed to Texas this week where a young mother is brutally murdered while working her overnight cleaning job. All signs point to the husband but without enough evidence they have to let him go. It would take decades to finally bring the killer to justice.
Fun Fact: Be careful, you could be married without being present! Texas is a common law marriage state, which means you are considered legally married if the couple makes three public announcements that they’re married. Moreover, a couple can be considered legally married even if the other spouse isn’t present for the ceremony.

From September of 1977 to February of 1978, a serial killer is terrifying the town of Columbus, Georgia. He has already murdered six elderly women in an upscale neighborhood and police are no closer to catching him. The killings stop suddenly but a new element of fear has entered in his place, a group calling themselves the “Forces of Evil” began threatening to kill black women in Columbus if the Stocking Strangler was not caught. Time is of the essence because the woman the organization claims to be holding hostage was reported missing. Needing to act fast, police bring in FBI profiler Robert Ressler to assist them. Using his years of experience he quickly puts together a profile pointing not to a group of seven men but to one. Police start finding bodies and start to wonder if they have a second serial killer operating in the Columbus area. Join us while we continue to sort through the strange case of the Stocking Strangler.
