When Justine first met Rev Run they were both teenagers. He was performing at a Kurtis Blow concert and Justine and her friends went backstage to meet him. After a memorable evening, Justine reached out to Rev (who was just Joseph at the time) and while they talked for a bit, they eventually both went their separate ways. Who knew that years later the two would reunite and their passion for the church, and love for each other would guide them both down this new journey. In this 2017 interview for the second season of Black Love Doc, Rev Run and Justine share what a relationship meant when ensuring that God was number one, how Justine navigated coming back into Rev's life after he had a divorce, and what being on a reality show meant to them. Rev and Justine's 20+ year marriage is a testament to what it means to truly be in a partnership.

Throughout their love story, the Franklins noticed that they were somehow always a part of each other's lives and with Kirk being a minister of music, he picked up on those signs from God which led the two to marriage. Plus the couple shares a key aspect of their relationship and advises others to do the same within their relationships as a way to continue the love and longevity.
