If it Ain't About The Money
02/25/21 • 66 min
Just like that we are back with our 3rd Season! Can you believe that we've been on the airwaves for a year now? We are so thankful and appreciative of all of Kin Folk out there that have supported us thus far.
Now since we were younger we've heard the saying "money is the root of all evil", but did you know that the correct saying is the love of money is the root of all evil? But it doesn't stop there, it's all types of saying from rap quotes to motivations speeches that speak about money, but why is mostly a negative thing when speaking about obtaining it? It almost feels at times like it's taboo when speaking about money within our culture. So today we wanted to talk about money and some of the negative connotations associated with it. I mean lets be honest, whether you think money is important or not it will always be a factor in life. So join us as we dive right into because IF IT AIN'T ABOUT THE MONEY...

One & Done
For the past 15 years the NBA has instituted the rule that players must complete one year of collegiate ball before entering into the draft. While the league has stated that this is designed to help give players more time to mature, many people have criticized this move as controlling and just a way of not paying these young athletes. But what if we told you that many of us have felt they we only had one shot to make it in life? Whether it be in the classroom, workplace, the street or on a basketball court. As African-Americans we've been trained since we were younger to be great athletes or entertainers. More importantly we've been trained to think that we only get one chance to do make something of ourselves. Today we wanted to break down some of the different ways to define what one & done means to us. We know that many will automatically gravitate towards sports when they hear the term but we wanted to dig a little deeper. So listen in as we give our views on college athletes looking to make that transition into the league and so much more.
