William Wallace once said, “Every man dies. Not every man really lives.”
Wallace was reminding us that death shouldn’t scare us.
Failing to live should.
I’m host Daniel Goldberg, and by twenty-five, I’d lost both my parents to rare cancers, and it changed how I live, forever. Since then, I’ve been on a simple mission: to find the world’s most passionate mentors, coaches, athletes, and entrepreneurs, and ask them a question: “How do you truly live?”
Join me, as I interview fascinating individuals who dive deep into thought-provoking topics, offering “Bits of Gold” on navigating adversity, building resilience, finding joy, and living purposefully.
After 100 episodes, here’s what I’ve learned:
Death is life’s greatest teacher, showing us what’s important, where our focus should be, and why we should wake up with purpose every day, because our time on Earth is limited.
The loss of my parents was my wakeup call. Let this podcast be yours:
It’s time.
It’s time to forsake the mediocre, to wake up every day happier, more energized, and full of purpose. Knowing that you can die tomorrow, should determine how you live today.
Follow along, as we learn from others who have found meaning in their daily lives. Together, let’s discover the Bits of Gold we can all apply to live on purpose.
So... ready to start living?

BOG #21 RECAP // Bits of Gold w/ David Lekach
Bits of Gold
07/01/20 • 12 min
In this recap episode, I share my biggest takeaways and Bits of Gold from the episode with David Lekach from Dream Water.
- Run your own race. Focus on you. Don’t worry about the competition or others.
- Find a mentor: Find someone to help guide you.
- You need to be actively communicating to people in your life. Employees, team members, family, friends, so it minimizes discord and frustration. Communication is key. Entrepreneurship is lonely.
- There is no such thing as an overnight success. He is a 9+ year success. Things take time. It can not be about the money. If it’s just about the money, more often than not, you will eventually lose. It’s not a straight up journey.
- Mindset is important. He is viewing Corona as an opportunity for what can we create during this time?
- Cash flow vs cash. Positive cash flow is very important. Keep your fixed overhead low so you can survive and get through tough times. That’s important!

BOG #19 RECAP // Bits of Gold w/ Brandon Steiner
Bits of Gold
06/24/20 • 13 min
In this recap episode, I share the Bits of Gold from Brandon Steiner.
- How to be a winner: In order to win, you only need to win 51% of the time. You can lose 49% of the time and still be a winner. To win, you just need one yes.
- You need to try things: Trying things creates confidence, opportunity, and valuable lessons. With each experience, you will have more data and knowledge to know what you like and don't like, what you are good at and not good at, etc... After every experience, you are more prepared for future opportunity.
- Don't be afraid to do things that are not sexy: Get your hand's dirty! Don't be afraid to do something just because you are scared how it may or may not look on your resume. (In my opinion, you should focus on building your life, not your resume.) Learn how to make a buck. Each experience will lead you some place and in that process, you will learn something new.
- Focus on the most important things: Instead of focusing on the bad customers, focus on the good customers. Focus on your important customers and your best customers. Don't get distracted focusing on the bad. It's so easy to do that. Focus on the good.
- Money Grab: It's okay if you have an opportunity to reach out and grab the money. Sacrificing short term for the long-term gain. However, if the grind becomes a 5, 10, and 25 year grind of non-stop work, re-evaluate what is important to you. You need to focus on long-term balance. But a short term imbalance of 1-2 years is okay.
P.S. Baseball cards are no longer the asset I thought I once had.
Enjoy -

BOG #15 RECAP // Bits of Gold w/ Lisa Jacobs
Bits of Gold
06/18/20 • 12 min
In this recap episode, I share the Bits of Gold from Lisa Jacobs.
- Just start: When Lisa started her business she didn't even have a name. She dove right in and committed to learning by doing.
- Be open to risk: Don’t overthink the consequences or the outcome. Just take massive action and see what works and what does not work.
- You need to take the stairs. There is no elevator to success: It s along journey. There are no shortcuts but it's well worth it. You will make a lot of mistakes along the way, but never lose confidence in yourself.
- Not everyone wants to establish a passion and something they do as a side business to be a big business and that’s okay. Is what you are building a hobby, a passion, a side hustle, a business? Whatever you choose, it's okay. It's up to you to build what you want in both your life and business.
- Don't dream your life away. You need to live your life. Dreaming is an amazing thing. But don't get lost dreaming. You need to take action and live your life.
