Episode 9: Leadership Through Patience
05/19/20 • 50 min
From the Holy Trinity Titans in Oakville, Ontario to completing his Senior year at Edgewood Academy in Alabama to Junior College, then the Ohio University Bobcats, Nathan Rourke has stepped into roles of leadership and has had to learn how to lead in each situation. As the 15th overall pick to the BC Lions in the 2020 CFL Draft, Nathan looks to take his work ethic, leadership, and skillset to the pros.
The path to the professional leagues hasn't been easy for Nathan. Trials and tribulations stood in his way like any other athlete, but for a Canadian trying to make his mark on a sport that hasn't been so forgiving to the "Canadian Quarterback," all he can do is stand tall, work hard, and prove that he belongs. Through his journey, he has found his personal faith and identity in God and has gained a new perspective!
This is a journey that will inspire and motivate. This is a story that shows leadership in patience and perseverance.

Episode 8: Mental Training with Dylan Nadler
Linking up with Dylan Nadler, the founder and owner of Mindlock Mental Training was definitely a blessing. Dylan began training in Taekwondo when he was 5 years old and began competing in fights when he was 10. Since then, he has won a multitude of tournaments in Canada and around the world. At one point, he was ranked #1 in Canada and top 40 in the world. Mindlock Mental Training is an organization that is predicated on giving athletes the most in-depth and extensive mental training. Working with athletes in the UFC, CFL, Olympics, Bellator, and Pro MMA, Dylan uses his skills that made him a champion fighter to help train the athletes that he works with. We chatted about mental training and how it's truly the X factor in competition and how it is very undervalued in training. He then leaves us with some tools that we can implement today to help create a strong mindset. Episode 10: Racial Injustice Panel Discussion
We have an agenda: to create MORE dialogue and uncomfortable discussions in order to formulate actionable steps towards healing and reconciliation.
Racism is alive and breathing around the world. It hasn't "gotten worse," it's been here, it's just being videotaped.
We at Beyond The Game will never choose to be silent when it comes to racism. We will ALWAYS stand up and fight against the oppression of people of colour. We will ALWAYS stand up and be educators. We will ALWAYS stand up and be allies.
This ain't for no trend. This isn't because it's cool to speak up now. This is our life. This is our community!
