Berkreviews.com Movie Club - 7500 (2019)
07/25/20 • 71 min
Fresh off quarantine and on the precipice of returning to it, Jonathan (@Berkreviews) and Corey (@coreyrstarr) return to the theme of Small Screen. That is to say, these films are all streaming originals or at least available on a streaming service. It's a good way to check off some movies that slipped passed the two of them over the years or maybe even this year.
As far as the podcast goes, each episode features an in-depth review of the movie for the week. They begin with a spoiler-free review before diving in completely after the needed spoiler warning. However, before getting into the review of the week, Jonathan and Corey discuss what other movies they've seen since the last episode as well as anything else they feel like discussing. To help them decide which of the many films to watch each month they started creating themes for them all.
Week 4 - 7500 (2019)
Jonathan is a fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt so the Amazon Prime original 7500 (2019) made sense to check out. Directed by Patrick Vollrath and starring Gordon-Levitt, Omid Memar, and Aylin Tezel. The film sounds intense with IMDb.com stating, "When terrorists try to seize control of a Berlin-Paris flight, a soft-spoken young American co-pilot struggles to save the lives of the passengers and crew while forging a surprising connection with one of the hijackers."

Week 3 - Yummy (2019)
Corey has supported Shudder for a while so she chose the film Yummy (2019). Written and directed by Lars Damoiseaux and stars Maaike Neuville, Bart Hollanders, and Benjamin Ramon in a film that has a tagline that states "Facelifts, boob jobs, and zombies". The synopsis doesn't give much in the way of plot, but it seems to be a horror trope showcase.

Berkreviews.com Movie Club - Micmacs (2009)
For August 2020, Corey (@coreyrstarr) and Jonathan (@berkreviews) have selected the theme Speaking my Language...or non-English native films. That's right, you'll be reading these films this month unless you're more cultured than they are. Each film this month would be considered foreign to most Americans. It's often an area that neither dive into enough so dedicated a month to it makes a lot of sense.

Week 1 - Micmacs (2009)
For week one, Corey selected Micmacs because of the director. Three of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's films have been covered previously throughout Movie Club history and this one, starring Dany Boon, André Dussollier, and Nicolas Marié plus several more was a darkly fun one. The synposis reads "A man and his friends come up with an intricate and original plan to destroy two big weapons manufacturers."
