Judging a book by its cover design is something we all do. A good cover design entices us to look at the back blurb or open the book to read the first page. Having a great cover is one component of publishing your book that can help you sell more books. Whether you work with a professional or not is up to you. As an independent author, I know that there can be many upfront costs, and hiring a professional for your cover design adds to the pile. It's almost easier to Google an image and does it yourself.

In this episode, I talk with Maja Kopunovic, a professional designer based in Serbia. Maja has been designing for over ten years and focusing specifically on covers for the last five. In this episode, we talk about what you should consider when looking for a cover designer, which makes a bad cover, and we also discuss why you shouldn't just Google and image. She also shares some great tips and resources for people if they want to create their own book cover.
