Heyyyyy!!
Yes, you are right As I Was Saying... Podcast was on a short two week break but we are back and better than ever. You might see some aesthetic changes coming in the next few weeks so keep a look out for that. But, this week we are coming to you with a BRAND NEW INTERVIEW! I know so exciting right?
This week we are diving into "Daddy Issues" with author and poet Angelique Ambers
Angelique Ambers is a poet and writer who lives in Illinois. While she has been writing poetry for many years she recently started performing her work as a spoken word artist in the Chicago area in 2019. Additionally, she was the host for Hot Sauce Poetry which is an inspirational open mic in Chicago, earning her a 2020 nomination for a National Spoken Word Award in the category of “Best Host”.
“Lessons Taught by Daddy” is the first collection of poems that Ambers has published. However, she has been featured in other collections such as the She Will Speak Series: Gender Based Violence Anthology which included two of her poems “Rotting” and “Revival”. Angelique Ambers is passionate about bringing awareness to social issues and connecting people of various backgrounds. 100 Days On Earth an Interview with Johnathan J. Azar
This week I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my good friends Johnathan J. Azar on As I Was Saying... Podcast. We spoke about his first book 100 Days on Earth and dived into some of his most popular pieces in the book. We also touched on the relationship between faith and pain and how our individual culture and experiences many times manifest in our work.
Inspired by the pantheon of poets from the Middle East and beyond, Johnathan J. Azar assumes a philosophical posture as he approaches themes such as faith, struggle, and purpose through poetry. He first published his debut poetry collection, "100 Days on Earth" in July 2019 and launched it at New York City Poetry Festival. Since then, he has been sharing his work via interviews, signings, and charity events.
