160. Murals & Faux Finishing for the 1% with Bryan King

This week’s episode features Virginia based muralist and faux finisher Bryan King. I put out a call for recommendations in a couple Facebook groups looking for nominations of lifetime muralists to interview for you this summer and Bryan’s name was brought up over and over. Artists wanted to hear from him and after checking out his photo gallery I could see why. This is another example of someone who takes pride in what they do and doesn’t rush. I have a tendency to try and move on to the next project ASAP but seeing Bryan’s work was a simple reminder of what could happen if we just take our time to produce a really great result for the customer. Bryan’s customers are a bit on the high end. He says that if he had to guess, he would say that most of his customers are in the top 1%. That is GOALS. To paint for that type of clientele you need to be in the top 1% of artists in your genre, and I think Bryan is that. Let me know what you think of this week’s episode with Bryan King.

Busy and not busy... From working for other artists to stories about taking on giant jobs of their own. They have a lifetime of knowledge in the mural industry and I definitely plan to have them back someday to talk about maybe something more specific that you would want to know about their mural careers, but for now this is a broad overview of many years painting murals.
