As fantasy-themed adult comedy Tigtone returns to Adult Swim for a second season, AFA's Evan Vernon talks to co-creator Andrew Koehler and voice actor, writer and producer Blake Anderson (best known for his role in live-action series Workaholics and Woke).
They discuss how Tigtone evolved from plans to create a live-action fantasy comedy movie and what to expect from the second season. Tigtone returns! With their once idyllic fantasy land now reduced to an idyllic fantasy wasteland, Tigtone the master-questerer and his magically regenerative sidekick Helpy must face all new mischievous monsters, all new enchanted chaos, and all new irresistible quests in their all new baffling adventures! Tigtone is created by Andrew Koehler and Benjamin Martian, who also serve as executive producers with Blake Anderson (Workaholics). The quarter-hour series combines highly rendered, hand-painted fantasy art, motion capture performance, 2D animation, and pseudo-3D visual effects. Interview: Gints Zilbalodis (Away)
This week on The AFA Podcast, we bring you another interview! AFA Contributor Evan Vernon (making his podcast debut) spoke with Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, director, animator, editor, producer and writer on the one-man feature film Away (opening in UK and Ireland cinemas on August 28).
During the fascinating conversation, Gints discusses his path to animation and how he came to embark on such an ambitious project at such a young age. He also talks about why he made certain decisions when making the film, and his key influences, which include animators, live-action filmmakers and even videogame designers.

Continuing our series of AFA Podcast Interviews, this week we bring you a special episode in which we got to talk with the people behind two brand new series coming to TZGZ, the adult animation block on SYFY. AFA's Evan Vernon spoke with Kelsey Stephanides, creator of magical girl comedy Magical Girl Friendship Squad, where she discusses how she came to create the show and how the series stands out in the world of adult animation by being created by and starring women of color and other underrepresented groups. Then he spoke with actor, artist, stand-up comedian and trained opera singer Matteo Lane ( 0:17 ) who stars in the series as villain Corvin.
After that Evan speaks with creator and executive producer Adam Davies, and executive producers Dylan Dawson, and Alex Plapinger (0:35) , of TZGZ's Wild Life, who talk about how the series came to be and how they relate to the characters . Then finally he spoke with Baron Vaughn (0:57)actor and writer who starts in Wild Life as Hudson the hyperactive Fox, who discusses his character and the challenges and benefits of voice acting versus on-camera work.
Magical Girl Friendship Squad Premieres on Saturday 26 September at 12am Eastern, followed by Wild Life at 12:15. TZGZ is broadcast every Saturday from midnight on SYFY.
