Amiga, Handle Your Shit - Pouring Into Ourselves Before Thinking of Helping Others with Dr. Lydia Luna

Pouring Into Ourselves Before Thinking of Helping Others with Dr. Lydia Luna

11/15/22 • 37 min

Amiga, Handle Your Shit

When was the last time you took a moment to remove your shoes, breathe, and take care of yourself?

Taking care of ourselves is somehow associated with being selfish and neglecting others' needs. The negative talk and criticism around self-care are so loud that we put our needs and desires last; we give until we are depleted, and we end up exhausted, unhappy, and with growing resentment.

In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Lydia Luna, a Clinical Psychologist, Breathwork Guide, and Spiritual Entrepreneur. She is the creator of the Moon Collective Sanctuary, where she offers in-person retreats and virtual gatherings to promote integrative care and several healing modalities, like soul discussions, breathwork, Reiki, hypnotherapy, sound healing, and body movement. Dr. Lydia soon learned the importance of being financially and emotionally independent; she used the hardships she went through in her childhood as a catalyst to improve and heal and to cement her path as a caretaker, facilitator, and healer.

Tune in to Episode 108 of Amiga, Handle Your Shit, and learn about Dr. Lydia's upbringing, her passion for helping others, and why she decided to found the Moon Collective Sanctuary. We talk about why we tend to repeat specific patterns, even those that hurt us, how to break the cycle of giving and not receiving, why men struggle to deal with their feelings, and so much more.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

About Dr. Lydia's background and tough childhood (3:16)

Why some patterns repeat themselves (9:27)

If you do nothing but give, you become resentful (14:30)

The moment Dr. Lydia listened to her inner voice and created the Moon Collective Sanctuary (18:50)

Why most men struggle to deal with their feelings (26:18)

Two practical pieces of advice to handle your shit from Dr. Lydia Luna (32:28)

Leading with Legacy with Ann Marie Smith

The world has changed drastically in the past three decades. Technology has taken over our lives. In-person conversations have been substituted with texts and zoom calls. People's lives have become so hectic and fast-paced that finding time for loved ones requires top calendar management skills. The idea that spending time with other people requires too much time and money it's so widespread that it started affecting family traditions and the creation of legacy. Don't think about the buts or ifs; just do it. Create a legacy that transcends time and helps create meaning in other people's lives.

Today's guest, Ann Marie Smith, will tell us about her passion for reading and helping others, what her previous books were about and why legacy and family traditions are so important.

Anne Marie's latest book is called Leading with Legacy.
