Unexpectedly falling in love with a man: Mike Iamele
10/17/23 • 55 min
Original Air Date August 2, 2022 In this episode, Mike talks about how he went from being consciously straight to falling in love with his straight male caretaker. Mike shares the story of how because he thought he was dying that he was doing radical things, like ACTUALLY sharing his feelings, and how he ended telling his caretaker how he felt.
Mike Iamele thought he was straight his entire life. But a life-changing illness forced him to challenge that notion head-on when he fell in love with his male caretaker. And the two of them went on a years-long journey to explore sexuality and fluidity to figure out if the relationship could work.
When he chose to blog about his relationship, he had no idea that 100,000 people would share the post overnight, and he’d wake up to millions of people talking about his sex life. The story has been adapted into an off-Broadway musical called Straight Forward.
For most of the past decade, Mike has worked as a Life Purpose Expert + Brand Strategist where he has helped hundreds of celebrities, artists, entrepreneurs, and spiritual seekers to map their experiences to discover their subconscious motivations, unique brand, and life purpose.
Candace Dunaway is the host of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast. She practices daily gratitude and believes that this practice is the key to living a joyful life. Candace sees the world through an optimistic lens and looks for the silver linings, even in the most difficult of times. She believes that it is a collection of simple moments that compound to create a happy life.
