
Dyslexia: The Blended Support Offer

In episode 5, we are joined by again Habib Baluch from the Department of Work and Pensions to speak on the topic of ‘Dyslexia: Blended Support Offer.
Habib represents the Department for Work and Pensions as a Disability Services Advocate. He raises awareness of benefits to help people with care needs, their journey to work, or keeping them in work. Habib works closely with Access to Work, to ensure that people with health conditions, communication barriers, special education needs or learning difficulties are not put at the back of the queue when it comes to work and opportunities. He is passionate about Disability Services and the reach that they have, and he believes that with the right support, lots more jobseekers can get into work and stay in work.
Before his current Advocacy role, Habib led a group of managers at Personal Independence Payment. Prior to this he has experience working for Work Services, leading operations at a few different Jobcentres and across different departments in the North West, as well as spending a secondment working for a local authority to help support some of the most vulnerable families in Manchester.

In episode 1, we are joined by Giorgia O’Donoghue, undergraduate student at King’s College London, to speak on the topic of ‘Dyslexia: How to reach your full potential at University’.
Giorgia was diagnosed with Dyslexia at a young age and has had some very formative experiences with this growing up and in state education. Having spent most of her educational life being told her dyslexia would only hold her back, she is determined to pursue her love of academia as far as she can.
Giorgia has some very broad areas of research interest including Religion in Post-Conflict Stabilisation and Reconstruction; Arts role in Theology and Philosophical and Religious influences on Jurisprudence. She is currently leading the TRS Departments first Student Led Seminar Project called Religion Outside the University, and has also been involved as a musician and actress in a professional capacity.
