Getting Funded in Africa

On this episode, we had an enlightening conversation with Tarisiro Fundira, a recent graduate at the Manchester University UK and the co-founder behind CreateZim, a community organisation which actively supports people in Zimbabwe on their journey toward positive mental health.

From the importance of inter-generational collaboration to the role that religious institutions can play in promoting good mental health, we discussed it all and gathered incredible insight on how destigmatizing mental health issues in Zimbabwe and across Africa by engaging young people and utilizing online platforms can be a really effective solution to addressing this silent epidemic.

Tarisiro is a rising Zimbabwean changemaker who also enjoys writing, reciting spoken word poetry, and providing mentorship on communication skills to students coming from low-social economic backgrounds through his role as a senior mentor at Debatemate.

010 - Creativity & Collaboration in the Digital Age with Vuyi Chaza

On this episode, we sit down with Vuyi Chaza, the founder and visionary behind the Zimbabwean-based digital media platforms, Visuals by Vuyi and FVDN, to engage in an enlightening conversation around the power of authenticity, the necessity of collaboration, and the business side of digital media in Zimbabwe and broader African context.

At 28 Vuyi Chaza still has an affinity for cartoons and cereal on a Saturday morning - which inadvertently inspires her artwork. An illustrator, graphic designer and digital growth consultant, Vuyi has successfully worked with over 80 design and digital clients in Zimbabwe and South Africa over the course of three years. After a brief stint in Cape Town, Vuyi is back in Zimbabwe and cooking up some fresh ideas on how to help creatives and hustlers who run small business too!

012 - Optimizing Real Estate through Blockchain with Nnamdi Uba

On this episode, we sat down with the Nnamdi Uba to discuss how one of the oldest legacy industries in Africa, real estate, can be better optimized and simplified with the help of blockchain technology. Nnamdi is the CEO and co-founder behind HouseAfrica, an African property technology company that has specifically positioned itself to address Africa's land verification problem which is evidenced by the estimated $900 billion worth of dead capital that exists in Nigeria alone. With a solution oriented approach and a vision for unlocking this capital driving them forward, Nnamdi and his team have been working in the technology space for many years which made for a well-informed conversation on key questions relevant to the space - questions such as whether or not Africa is ready for blockchain and what can governments do to support the adoption of this emerging technology. If you are interested in understanding more about how real estate in Africa is evolving in the direction toward more access, more security, and more opportunities for all, this conversation is definitely for you.
