“My only approach is to love and strengthen all women, no matter what kind of birth they want to have.”
Laura Dugovic had prepared for a meditative birth with her first child, but what she experienced was gritty, loud, sweaty . . . and still completely transformative.
Laura is a doula and birth educator, but one who strives to help ALL women feel empowered to face birth with an attitude of a rockstar, regardless of what method they feel best suits them and their needs.
In today's episode, Laura works with our host--Monica--in a smaller version of what she does with her clients in a typical session. She talks Monica through her deep-seated fears of birth and teaches her how to manage her thoughts so she is better prepared to face the upcoming birth of her fourth child.

"This isn't something you chose. This is a disease your body has."
Kyle is a physician in Utah who is very open about his long history with anxiety and depression. These bouts started as a teen and came and went with intensity throughout his 14 year marriage to Becki, who has also dealt with circumstantial depression while they were in the stressful years of medical school.
Kyle speaks from both a doctor and patient's point of view, having the physiological know-how about what is happening with the brain when someone is under the grasps of depression/anxiety; but he also has intimate knowledge with what it feels like to be on the other side of the stethoscope. He does his best to empower both his patients who struggle with mental illness, but also with his fellow physicians, who carry even greater stigmas as a result of them trying to live up to their "superman" role.
Kyle and Becki both share how depression/anxiety can be so interwoven with guilt, shame, and perfectionism. Becki declares herself as a "non-perfectionist," so she lends a unique voice to this discussion for those like her, as loved ones who struggle to better support their partners in the trenches with mental illness. Becki especially highlights the importance of the supporter not getting sucked in so much that they can no longer care for themselves, in addition to their loved one.
This wonderful couple talks about how they dealt with their bouts both separately (which was wise, at times), together, and how they are in turn helping others. Kyle shares some of the important science behind mental illness, the importance of coupling both medication and cognitive therapy, and how depression/anxiety can display itself physiologically, or emotionally with feelings of sadness, anxiousness, or even anger. Oh, and you'll want to hear what Becki and Kyle's biggest tip is for couples.

Have you ever wondered what it is really like to be a successful fashion blogger? Meet Sarah Tripp.
Sarah, from Sassy Red Lipstick, does her job so well that she makes it look easy. But it absolutely isn't. Sarah has the right mix of dreaming big and working hard. Fashion is a huge form of her self-expression and has been a life-long passion. But another important passion for Sarah is her desire to help women learn how to love their bodies, just as they are.
In this podcast, we go into what a typical day looks life for Sarah, how she remains true to herself while incorporating sponsorship, what it means to have authentic connections with her followers, how she dares to be honest about the hard parts of her industry, what her husband's love and influence has meant for her, how she battles the daily pressure to be perfect, and how she overcame her own dissatisfaction with her body and now embraces a celebratory self-acceptance that keeps her centered.

AP 345: Powerful Ways to Create Fulfillment in Seasons of Change || with Aubrey Baldwin
About Progress
06/30/21 • 47 min
Whether you asked for it or not, at some point or another you will find yourself in a season of change. Women in this community who have been through that have expressed feeling overwhelmed and unsure of navigating their new paths. Sometimes this applies even when you have chosen your season of change. Here we are focused on personal fulfillment, feeling whole, and like yourself amidst the ebbs and flows of your life. Tune in for this interview with a fellow progressor who is well versed in this scenario and shares powerful ways to create fulfillment in seasons of change.
Aubrey Baldwin is a mother and Air Force wife living abroad in England, so she is no stranger to frequent moves that take her far from family and familiarity. She shares her personal story of how she realized that a simple routine, gratitude, and connection could create fulfillment even in seasons of change. Life is never static, and while the transitions can be out of our control, we can find peace and alignment when we learn how to prioritize and control the controllables.

AP 257: "Dear Progressor," April 2020 Edition
About Progress
04/30/20 • 16 min
We spent this past month learning about what I might even call my favorite theme yet, live with purpose. I hope you come away from the fantastic interviews this month knowing you don't need to find your purpose, you already have it. At first I wasn't sure if the theme was relevant given the current pandemic, but this community showed up and showed me the real importance of infecting purpose into our every day lives.
As always, in addition to the "Dear Progressor," listener submissions I share what's going on in the Packer home and how I got schooled this month. We have (obviously) been spending tons of time at home and as a family, but a few things we do almost daily have really meant the most to me. I'm even considering permanently keeping a new change!
There was so much to be learned from this month's interviews, but I'm boiling down what stood out most to me. Sara Dean and Tallia Deljou mentioned perusing a book store as a way to better know your interests - so hopefully we can all get out and do that soon, right?! I also share the episode I thought would be met with more controversy, but was instead widely embraced. Of course our listener submission adds even more to what I share. Tune in and let me know, what do you think of this episode format? Trying to decide what the future holds for it!

AP 189: Lies You Believe About Dreaming || Growth Spurt
About Progress
07/26/19 • 11 min
I'm back on my soapbox again today to gently give you permission, but also enthusiastically cheer you on, in your pursuit of your dreams. If it wasn't for a dream I had, oh, ten years ago then none of this would be here. Not this blog, this podcast, or this incredible community. And certainly none of my own personal growth from it all! So let's talk about you, what are the lies you believe about dreaming?
Lies You Believe About Dreaming
If you've been tuning in this month you already know what we're talking about, so what's holding you back from doing it?? Dreaming, that is. I think that sometimes we discount our dreams. And this happens to our dreams of all sizes - either we think it's too small to matter or too big to accomplish.
Stop discounting your dreams, stop discounting yourself. You deserve to dream, to reach for something greater than yourself. I was reminded of something we talked about last month, that more often than not we would be more sad if we didn't just try.
In this episode I'm sharing how I feel about my failures and successes, but most importantly how that taught me to take all dreams seriously. I hope you listen to this short episode because I want that for you too!
About a few other things
This month when you share the podcast you are entered into a weekly drawing for something from my favorite skincare and beauty line! Just tag me @aboutprogress or DM/email me to let me know you've shared.
These Growth Spurt episodes always feature something I like to call "Amazon made me do it!" This week I'm admitting what I bought that made me feel like a true millennial - a selfie light. This little thing is powerful and works wonders while I work from my bedroom/office. All my favorites are always right here.

Maybe you remember back in March when we talked about habits - motivation, sleep, and time management were a few of the topics. Hopefully you felt inspired to make some real change that would benefit you and, as a result, those around you. If you're still moving right along and keeping up with those new habits then good for you! (Also, give us all your tips!) But maybe you've become stuck, overwhelmed, and realized you need help narrowing in and buckling down on your personal habits.
Friend and fellow podcaster, Rachel Nielson, shares how earlier this year she dreamt up a lengthy lists of habits to change and then went from overzealous to overwhelmed. But she knows progress is messy, so she began to pare down. By narrowing in on TWO personal habits, Rachel shares the domino effect they have had on her entire life.
Another hot topic discussed in this episode: social media usage. Rachel took a month long break from her normal business (including Instagram) grind. She opens up about how she did it, what changed, and where she's at right now. Tune in to this episode for that middle-of-the-year-motivation to jump back on board with your goals, habits, and progress.
P.S. did you catch our teaser at the end? Here's where you can sign upto be the first to know more!

AP 563: Cast a Vision || Growth Spurt
About Progress
01/18/24 • 13 min
Last year I felt like I had abandoned my goals and day planning by February. As I reviewed them again recently, surprisingly a lot of what I had envisioned still materialized. Clearly defined visions give direction, making it easier to break down the necessary steps and create a meaningful impact on both conscious and subconscious levels. In this episode I'll explain what that looks like in goal planning, and give you a unique twist on setting a word for the year that aligns with the feelings you value the most.

When I teach how to create habits, I inevitably get questions about what to do about bad habits. In fact, I recently received a voicemail from a Progressor named Amy, asking this very question. She gave me permission to dive into her bad habit for all of us to hear, because I think it's something that many of us wish we could change: spending unnecessary time on our cell phones. Tune in to hear me break this down, and uncover what's really going on in our minds that leads us bad habits.
