Taking BRAVE Action w/ Holly McIlwain
08/24/23 • 27 min
#032- It's time to get BRAVE.
In this episode, I interview Holly McIlwain, who is the "chief cheerleader" of the Brave Woman Project, where she encourages women to do one brave thing every day.
We discuss how brave action can look different based on your circumstances and how knowing yourself is the key to figuring out what your daily brave action should be.
Some days, getting out of bed may be the bravest thing you do.
Some days, it may be having a difficult conversation, turning off your devices and unplugging, or doing any other action that scares you a bit.
We also talk about the importance of knowing your strengths, what boundaries you need in order to perform at your best, and how to charitably and courageously live out your faith in an increasingly secular world.
You can get the books Holly mentioned here:
For She Who Leads: Practical Wisdom from a Woman Who Serves
For She Who Grieves: Practical Wisdom for Living Hope

How to Reframe Stress and Thrive Under Pressure w/ Janna Kerr
#030 - We all deal with stress...in fact "being stressed" is a somewhat ubiquitous lament for most people these days.
But what if stress could actually be reframed so that it isn't such a bad thing?
What if you could learn to master your stress so that it doesn't sap your energy and cause you unnecessary drama?
In this episode of the podcast, I talk with fellow Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Janna Kerr all about how we can do just that.
We talk about:
- How having the kids home for Summer can be an extra-stressful time for a lot of moms
- What the "boring" definition of stress is--and a new definition that's more helpful
- How 75-90% of medical visits are actually related to chronic stress
- How understanding how our brains work can help us get a grip on our stress response
- A trick you can use to master moments of stress
- What an "amygdala hijack" is--and how you can escape it
I hope you enjoy this conversation and that it helps you manage your stress much more effectively!

This is the first in a special series of episodes for Catholic Entrepreneurs!
Why did you start your business?
If you’re like most Catholic entrepreneurs that I know, you started your business because you wanted to use your gifts and talents to serve God and others.
You wanted to do something meaningful that would impact the world, your family, and yourself in a profound way.
It was about more than money–it was about mission.
But chances are also good that, like many entrepreneurs, you’ve lost sight of that vision amidst the day-to-day grind of the seemingly never-ending tasks and stresses that come with running a successful business.
You may have even accepted the secular vision for your business that tells you that in order to be “successful” you have to hustle and grind–and thus sacrifice your health, your happiness, and even your relationship with God.
In this episode, I refute some of the lies of "hustle culture" and also outline what you can expect from this series moving forward.
