In our very first podcast episode together, my romantic partner, A, and I discuss what it was like to set boundaries and assert ourselves from the very beginning of our relationship, and how that practice has led us into a partnership rooted in trust, honesty, and communication. It's our hope that by publicly talking about our relationship--both the challenges and triumphs--we can help other folks out there who might be going through something similar.

Shame, unaddressed, can have catastrophic effects on our relationships. When we are too ashamed to admit our true needs or desires, we hide--from the people we love, and, often, even from ourselves. When we hide, we deny others the opportunity to truly get to know us; we deny intimacy. Confronting that of which we are ashamed is essential if we want grow, both as individuals and in our relationships. This episode explores the impacts of shame on our personal relationships, as well as some of the ways that larger systems of oppression, like capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy, rely on our shame to function.

I’m searching for stories from femmes/non-binary folks and women who have had the following type of experience: A masculine or male romantic partner getting jealous, possessive, or controlling about how you look, dress, or behave at your place of work.
How to participate:
