Succeeding as a mom, wife, and career woman is not easy. Take it from our amazing guest Jessica Gonzales. She shares how the overwhelm landed her in therapy to work through "coming home so frustrated after work everyday, slamming cabinets and giving those I loved most the silent treatment."
She shares practical things that she put in place that helped her and her husband start working as a team. The journey made her realize that her family doesn't need a perfect mom, they just needed a happy mom, and she was more than enough- just as she is.

I recorded our first episode in the middle of what could have turned into a big, ugly fight over a cardboard box. Yes. Really.

I am not here to give you advice because trust me- I do not have it all figured out! There have been many days where we have wondered if our marriage is going to make it.

On this podcast we will seek the advice from husbands and wives whose marriages have stood the test of time and I ask them one question: Was there ever a time you wanted to call it quits, separate, or get a divorce? If so, how did you make it through it?

"I begin to understand the sacrifice that goes into loving someone else. Never having been taught by a father and never really understanding what it meant to put your wife first, I begin to understand the level sacrifice that a man of God has to live by in order to be the kind of husband he’s supposed to be."

Divorce is Not an Option. If you feel like this advice is harsh because of how bad your marriage is, check out our free giveaway:

"What to do if your Spouse is Tearing your Marriage Apart"

So, what is the most downloaded episode in the history of this podcast?

I don’t think it’ll be a surprise!

When looking for the #1 all time episode, there was no shock when the statistics showed that the two-part interview discussing divorce are the two most downloaded episodes. In this episode, I interview Dan Yeazel and learn about the agreement he and his wife built the foundation of their marriage on, divorce is never an option.

Their driving force? Not wanting their kids to grow up seeing the things they did, not wanting their family to struggle with the implications of divorce.

“We walked into this marriage knowing and committing that divorce would never be on the table.”

Not giving their marriage the option of divorce provided stability within their marriage, they both understood from minute one that divorce would never be an option, therefore it was not a lurking fear in the back of their minds. Marriage is hard and struggle is inevitable. Building your relationship through God can help the struggle not feel so lonely.

The best advice Dan shares to the stability of his marriage is seen in James 1:19, “Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger” because, as Dan shares, “you can apologize but you can’t take those words back.” Words hurt, harsh words are unforgettable and neither your partner nor your marriage deserves that.

“God wants our families to stay together. Take a stand for your marriage!”

Listen to the interview here to hear everything about marriage, the different roles between man and woman within marriage, and the ways in which turning to God can change everything for the better. The advice Dan shares is full of encouragement for you and your marriage.

For 3 steps on how to embrace this philosophy in your marriage, no matter how bad things are, read the entire blog post here.

Love Always,

Amanda

You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James 1:19
Have past hurst and marriage struggles caused you to put up your guard and protect yourself? With each hurt we put up our guards a little more and a little more, this can cause us to become bitter and resentful-without really realizing it. When we become overly protective of ourselves, as to not get hurt we can show up very selfishly. It becomes hard to serve, or to really even love our spouse. When we have had so many hurts and hangups it is hard to see clearly how selfish we have really become.
Listen to this weeks episode for ideas on how to break through that selfishness and start serving your spouse.
"Both my wife and I came from parents who divorced and broken families. So we came into our marriage committing that divorce would never be on the table and that we would do whatever we could to prevent our children from going through what we had to endure as children of divorce. We decided that divorce would never be an option." - Dan Yeazel
Have you resolved that divorce is not an option? Or do you live in constant fear that your marriage may one day end? Resolving that you are in it to stay can create space for you and your spouse to feel reassured and safe enough to put in the real work that is needed to have a lasting marriage. Our guest Dan Yeazel shares how as a child of divorce, and despite the struggles and crisis that they faced, resolved to do whatever it takes to stay married and shares that because of the hard work, commitment, and sticking it out though the hard times "wakes up every morning thanking God for his wife."

We talked a lot about porn and sex on this episode. First of all if that is something that you struggle with please, please, do not feel judged. If you are feeling guilty, or shamed, know that is not of God. That is straight from the devil, and he wants exactly that- to have those grips on you. Know that you are bigger than all of your “junk in the trunk” and God can use even your worst decision or most embarrassing moment to bring glory and honor to Him... If you invite Him to do so.
I'm not here to tell you what to do and what not to do, I’m just here to say ask yourself: “at the end of the day does this action really make me feel good, or is it wreaking havoc in my life?” Sometimes we let these little things become big problems in our lives, they get a grip on us and we are here to give you that loving nudge to rise up and to remind you that you are BIGGER and GREATER than even your worst decision! The Bible tells us we all sin and we all fall short, and my sin is no SMALLER than yours.

That being said let me remind you that God is the creator of sex, and He wants it to be a blessing inside of our marriages! So if you are struggling in any of these areas I hope that this episode blesses you and takes you to a new level.

Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love. Proverbs 5:18-19

“Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” 1 Corinthians 7:5 NLT
