Episode 26: Why You Should Watch Sorry To Bother You

Gooood morning!
**Update: Joe and Jordan will be rolling episodes out mid-week moving forward! This means Wednesdays or Thursdays**
What starts as a lengthy discussion about the recent Venom trailer slowly evolves into a set of hot takes about the Boots Riley film, Sorry To Bother You. While initially billed as a film about code switching, it's really a dark satirical look at what capitalism can do to those that are desperate for social mobility. For this episode we got to hear from a few of our ultra-cool friends.
- Chris Lee (of Gold Vibes Only -- follow them @gvo.fm)
- Karen Sepulveda (who you may remember from Episode 24 -- follow her @thekarensep)
- Atum Ra (who produced our intro music)
After we launch into a brief discussion of MoviePass, which we both agree is a great idea that may not be able to last. Which begs the question, if MoviePass folds, who will take their place?

Episode 25: San Diego Comic Con Trailer Wrap Up
Goooood morning!
Hey Shifters, we have a special three-person episode this time around. We invited Brooklyn-native and pop culture connoisseur DJ Treats to share his thoughts on the trailers that dropped during San Diego Comic Con last week.
What starts off as a conversation about the Shazam trailer, turns into an interesting debate about...
- The return of Shaq (as in what the script for Blue Chips 2 would sound like)
- The Titans trailer (and our, ahem, collective thoughts on it)
- Why Batman: The Animated Series might be better than Gotham
- The possibility that the upcoming Joker movie (or movies?) might not be that good -- and why a Terry Gilliam a la Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas direction would be the way to go
- Why Joe and Jordan teared up a little watching the Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer
Make sure to follow DJ Treats on Twitter and SoundCloud! Also check him out as the host of Parks Department right here.

Episode 27: Crazy Rich Azns
Gooooood morning!
First off we want to apologize to all of the Shifters for our wonky schedule. To make up for being away for the last two weeks, we're dropping two episodes back-to-back. Yes, in addition to this episode, we have another one you can digest as soon as you're done with this one. So if you have a long commute or are stuck in traffic, now is a good time to sit back and chill as we give you our hot takes on two of the hottest movies of the summer.
In this episode we discuss...
- What we've been watching or are attempting to watch
- Here's a shortlist of shows/movies which we share our thoughts on: Succession, Ozark, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Claws, Better Call Saul
- Crazy Rich Asians: The good, the bad and the "problematic" (vomitting in our mouths) elements
- What we hope to see now that the movie has become a box office success
Once your done with this episode, stick around for our episode on BlackKklansman!
