Manhood/Mentorship
10/02/22 • 66 min
I'm sure we'd all agree (or most of us over the age of 25) that MANHOOD in America (and around the world for that matter) is about as clearly defined as mud.
In this episode, Marc and Tavarus dive into another rich conversation around the topic "Manhood and Mentorship". What exactly is a man? What defines a man these days? Does that definition change based on the culture, generation, gender expression, social expectations, or stage of life? Or are there certain unquestionable characteristics or values that help determine what makes a man a MAN, or not?
What's a mentor and what's his/her role in helping a "MAN" become a "MAN"? We promised we'd share with you the origin of the word "mentor", and it can be found here https://www.growthmentor.com/blog/origin-of-word-mentor/
Marc and Tavarus both serve as positive male role models for many of the youth in the city of Jacksonville; most of which come from hard places. Marc's own son, Jemari, is his first and most important investment. Tavarus serves with other local non-profit organizations helping to shape young men into "MEN OF TOMORROW"!
SO, what defines a man? Well, listen down to what the fellas have to say about it. Please, comment, share, and be sure to follow the 2 Men 1 Mic Podcast on all podcasts outlets, and on social media @2men_1Mic! We out!!!

Love, Sex, Relationships
EPISODE 9! Marc and Tavarus dive into some rich convo about LSR; Love, Sex and Relationships. As husbands who both have past lives of lots of fun and lots of LSR, the conversations travels down the path of what LSR meant in the past, and what it means to them now. They both share funny stories about their beliefs, their current struggles, and also how they've managed to navigate the journey of becoming; especially as it relates to this topic. Things get a bit quirky, transparent, and downright funny in this episode, but it's all in the name of fostering healthy conversations from the perspective of 2 Men and 1 Mic.

Developmental Network
THIS ONE WILL CHANGE THE GAME!
In this episode, Marc and Tavarus discuss the importance of having the right circle of influence around you and the right people in your corner, at the right time, and for all the right reasons.
There's a popular statement used by large corporations and successful people around the world, and it reveals one of the secretes to success. The statement goes like this, "No one gets there alone". So true! We've heard for years that "it's not always about what you know, but who you know"! There's so much packed in that one statement, and the goal of this episode is to help unpack it, and give practical steps as to HOW to apply this truth to ones life. We firmly believe that growth happens in community. Elevation thrives in relationships with others who fall in one of 3 categories of your "Developmental Network". Those levels are:
1. Peers
2. Mentors
3. Sponsors
Each of these levels are absolutely necessary for growth, development and expansion. They work perfectly in tandem with each other, yet one doesn't yield "best hopes" without the other.
Here are a few great articles that also provide deeper insight on what it means to have a strong Developmental Network:
