Stories of Families Ripped Apart by Qanon. When the covid-19 vaccines began to roll out in Canada, my brother and I made a concerning discovery: my parents had bought into the Qanon conspiracies. What ensued was two months of arguing in email, just trying to get them to get vaccinated. They are both in their 70s, and our father has had some medical issues that caused concern when the pandemic began. It was crucial to get them vaccinated. In an unexpected turn of events, after months of arguing, they finally agreed. I went with them, and I witnessed them both get vaccinated. They insisted that they finally realized the conspiracy theories had duped them, and all seemed to be well again. But, at the beginning of 2022, my brother noticed that our parents had drained several of their investment and banking accounts. When he confronted them, it became clear: they were deeper into Q than ever before. We don't know where the money is or the full extent of the conspiracy theories they have accepted, but we do know one thing: the people who raised us are gone. In their place are two strangers and a lot of hurt. I have decided to funnel this sadness and anger into a project to raise awareness about what Qanon is doing to families and relationships. Qanon is everywhere. In every country. They could be your family, your friends, your neighbours. They could be your lawyers, your doctors, or your police officers. They can even be your elected representatives. But what no one is talking about is how they are destroying relationships. They are Qanon, and these are the stories of the people who love them.

Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses-Critical Thinkers » Critical Thought Podcast

Latest episode 2 months ago

The "Critical Thought" presents topics that will challenge you to use critical thinking as you examine the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses. As former teachers and members of Watchtower theology, the group known as JW.org, we have insider information to raise public awareness. Most important, we know the psychological tactics the organization uses to lure unsuspecting converts into believing its deceptive teachings. Our intent is not to bash the organization’s religious practices. We are merely conduits, sharing information about the group’s motives and operation. We are dedicated to dispelling the group’s false teachings that they plant in the minds of “the fallen.”As former members of this group, we understand how an enormous burden befalls those members who cannot maintain the pace—a burden of shame, fear, obligation and guilt, judgment and condemnation; accusations of unappreciativeness, spiritual weakness, and the inability to truly love God. Carrying this burden eventually takes its toll. We know many members who expressed a desire to leave the group. But they stayed because they feared losing close relationships with family and longtime friends. So, they put up a front, feigning their zealous commitment as faithful members of the organization. Many struggled—and continue to struggle— to maintain this charade, denying their true feelings. Their friendships are conditional, based on whether they continue as members in the organization. All the while, the leaders pretend that they are part of a big, happy family and convince members to stay the course because the end to our terrible world conditions is around the corner. If through our platform, we help a single person in anguish over his or her inability to live up to the group’s standards—unattainable standards that have nothing whatsoever to do with the Bible or loving God— or prevent unsuspecting victims from joining the group, or assist public educators to better understand their pupils, or help to mend broken family relationships, or motivate individuals to see the need to further their education – we will have succeeded.

Marc Headley worked at Scientology’s secret desert compound, which houses all Scientology management, for 15 years. The 500-acre property is located deep in the California desert. The local townspeople were told lectures and films were made there. But is that all that was happening? It is the location of a multi-million dollar home for L. Ron Hubbard, built two decades after his death. It is the home of Scientology’s current leader, David Miscavige. So what really happens at the Int Base? Are the stories on the internet true? How does Scientology conduct management of its day-to-day operations? Could stories of armed guards, weapons, staff beatings, and razor wire fences be true? If so, how could a facility like this exist in modern-day America? Hundreds of staff tried to escape over the years. Some succeeded but were never seen or heard of again, and most failed. Why were people kept here? What really went on at the headquarters of Scientology? This is the story of what happened behind the Iron Curtain of Scientology.
