How should we live in this world when so much is changed? Katherine May, author of Wintering and the Electricity of Every Living Thing, asks those most intimate with the effects of these transformations: what now?
How do we stay soft in a world determined to harden? How can we bear witness to suffering without being dragged into despair? How do we ride the waves of our anger, sorrow and exhaustion, and still find space for wonder, hope and joy? How can we possibly help?
In a series of frank, thoughtful and deeply personal conversations, How We Live Now will explore the cultural, social and spiritual mindset for this long moment.

This show is a discovery of life and the ever present question of why not? I'm interested in learning about our world and the people in it.
What are you hungry to do but hold yourself back? What are the places you want to go? Who is the person you want to be, the people you want to meet? What is holding you back, is it perfection?
If you have made the leap - what took you over the edge to follow your dreams? A health scare, a choice, a life altering event, or just that little voice inside saying "it's time."
I want to explore following your bliss.
For many years I shrunk myself and did what I thought was expected of me. What was safe, and small. I want to explore the idea of being kind to yourself and brave, and the theory that security is found in the brave acts folks take everyday.
Let's explore securing our happiness and the fulfillment of who we truly are meant to be.
Permission Granted. Permission Granted to love yourself enough to set yourself free.

I became a single mother by choice, not by accident. I’ve been recording our lives for seven years to tell this story, about making choices and taking action to live the life you want. If you’re a parent, want to be a parent, or just love good storytelling, this podcast is for you.
Dive deep into best-selling books with author Christen Civiletto and poet Julia Rose as they interview top authors about the hot-button topics and heartfelt themes that drive their bestsellers. Your favorite authors are here! And this mother-daughter duo is asking them the BIG questions about their novels, memoirs, and more. Love great books? This podcast is for you!
Ilanit-Michele had been born and raised in the Jewish faith. But like her own mother Erika, she felt her faith had been force fed to her by her grandmother, Olga. As a young adult, Ilanit-Michele chose to minimise the Jewish aspects of her identity, and find her own path.
Then Olga’s memoir resurfaced in a box after her death, its first page specifically dedicated to her daughter and granddaughter. It told a tale of growing up in 1930s Hungary, surviving years in Auschwitz and other camps, and discovering at the war’s end that her family had been almost completely obliterated. Olga had never revealed the full story to anyone during her lifetime, and the manuscript had lain in its box for over twenty years.
Moved by the discovery, Ilanit-Michele and her mother began absorbing the story. They had it translated from Hungarian, went to visit the locations it mentioned and recorded the impact it had on their own views of family, history, faith and identity. Through travel, dialogue, interviews and reading out excerpts of Olga’s story, the lives of these three generations of women were rebraided, the tapestry of the family repaired and its Jewish heritage reconsidered.

Welcome to Uncommon Content; the podcast where we explore the extraordinary in the everyday. Join Michael as he delves into thought-provoking discussions from the intricacies of society, to the lighter side of life with stories about personal adventures and local legends.
Each episode promises a unique blend of humor, critique, and insight on topics ranging from the power of perspective to the peculiar habits of our society. Whether it's analyzing the impact of empty government buildings, celebrating the spirit of animal lovers, or uncovering the truth behind "nice fuzzy words" used in deception, Uncommon Content offers a fresh take on both the mundane and the sensational.
Tune in for a journey through the unconventional, the untold, and the undeniably entertaining."
Michael is the author of OFF THE RESERVATION; Stories I Almost Took To The Grave Probably Should Have, published in 2015. You will be able to listen to the book chapter by chapter for free, beginning October 1st!
Equal parts shocking and moving, Off the Reservation is an absurdist confessional memoir, accurately detailing the reckless hijinks of a bipolar alcoholic. This stranger-than-fiction true story spans over three (five now!) decades, as Michael recounts his tales with wincing honesty. Eventually, the maniacal nights of booze, drugs, and sex give way to rude awakenings in empty rooms, jail cells, and beds of snow from a failed suicide by Mother Nature. Rossi learns most of his lessons--gradually, reluctantly, painstakingly--without imposing them on anyone. Thankfully for us, these unapologetic, darkly comic tales haven't been taken to the grave just yet.
Host and creator Siobhan Barry takes listeners back to the 1950s and 1960s. Her stories, sometimes funny and sometimes serious, are time traveling trips through the days of penny candies, neighborhood ice cream parlors, fifty-cent movie tickets, air raid drills, summers without air conditioning, street games, homemade toys, football weddings, transistor radios, Beatlemania, and a cultural revolution.
OVER 50 YEARS AGO multi-award-winning journalist John Francis interviewed ageing Australian Outback characters, before their voices were lost in the red dust.
THIS IS VERY SPECIAL Outback history. Most of these unique old characters would be aged over 130 if they were still alive today.
NEARLY ALL lived largely solitary lives, in the harsh and lonely inland, on the edge of deserts, in a world of searing droughts, and occasional fierce floods.
THEY WERE prospectors, sheep and cattle men, boundary riders, drovers, railway workers, truck drivers, Aboriginal groups, and isolated but hardy women.
AUSTRALIA'S AVIATION HISTORY also started in the red dust. You'll hear interviews with some of Australia's most famous pioneer airmen (many of whom started flying in the First World War), who used aircraft to make the Outback a little less lonely.
JOHN WILL ALSO interview the descendants of other unique characters, read fascinating tales from Australia's Outback past, and spin tales of his own red dust adventures.

Welcome to Mirage Travel Writing Podcast, I’m your host William Barlow.
After two decades of indigent wanderings, I’m coming to you with stories, curiosities, and questions. In this first season, there will be narratives of sleeping on the streets in European capitals. There will be tales of crocodile men in remote Central African Republic and armed groups in eastern DR Congo all told through the experience of an aid worker. We will try to understand what it means to be a foreigner in clanic Palestinian society, and why not chronicle the ins and outs of a Parisian sexclub during a gangbang. Stories, all told with the tact of an anthropologist. Somewhat.
The storytelling is pulled from ten years of published and unpublished writing about the West, the Middle East, and Africa and raises questions relating to cross-cultural understanding or better yet, misunderstanding. I welcome your feedback and interpretations of stories, namely on the many oddities that come from travel across cultures.
The podcast will also feature writing from listeners. Writing that can be published anonymously. Writing of confusion or awe at the puzzle of cultures. Stories that serve no other purpose but to be told.
1000 Words or Less explores the magic in the simplicity of life’s moments. From the laughter shared between strangers on a crowded subway to the silent understanding of two people passing on a quiet street, Jake Hounds uncovers the beauty in the mundane, and the profound in the overlooked. In each episode, Jake amplifies a single topic, pursuing everyday encounters and occurrences, and highlighting the experiences that resonate with us all. Tune in for a captivating examination of what it means to be human, told in one thousand words or less.
