The Cricket Podcast is a project to capture the art of storytelling at bedtime with the stories that we tell our kids. Sometimes they are funny, sometimes they are scary, usually a bit of both. But they are always kid-safe, entertaining, yet calm enough to fall asleep to. Most importantly, we get right into the story without a bunch of self-promoting meta talk. Production is kept minimal with intention: we try to preserve the craft of storytelling by presenting the story exactly as we would when telling our own children, using only our voices. Hi! I’m Lucie, I’m a kids media specialist, and when I was a kid, my family didn’t own a TV. This is why I grew up being obsessed with television. Like most children of the ’90s in France, most of the kids' content I would watch came from America or Japan, with a few notable exceptions, that will be explored in later episodes. I decided early on that I would make tv shows. I have worked on film sets and studied cinema and kids television. I currently work in the kids’ media space and have been analysing trends and generally following what’s happening as kids media is always evolving. I’m a big fan of British pre-school television and of PBS, if I could meet one person dead or alive it would be Fred Rogers because I feel like we would get each other, like him, I’m passionate about kids' cognitive development and human, caring, science-based content creation.

In Season 1 of Finding the helpers, we are bringing personal stories of front line staff and families impacted by COVID-19. Our diverse guests will be invited to share their story of being on the front line, and in combination to their story, two expressive art therapists will provide art and creative activities that will support the challenges the individual and their family is facing. These could include ideas for short relaxation techniques to be done on the front line, creative ways to explain in kid friendly terms what is happening, ways to stay connected to family and children during long periods of isolation, etc.Throughout the podcast, conversation will include mental health insight related to the pandemic, anxiety and stress, grief and loss, resiliency, coping skills, and understanding the pandemic. Presented by the nonprofit Playing to Live's, whose history began in 2014 as a grassroots program focused on bringing play and creativity in the midst of the Ebola deadly viruses. Following our work in Ebola, we have continued our work as advocates and creators for play and expression across the globe in refugee settings, post war countries, and in the United States of America.
