Frequently Asked Questions About Horror Podcasts

What are horror podcasts?

Horror podcasts are audio shows that focus on delivering terrifying and chilling stories to the listeners. They often incorporate elements of suspense, supernatural occurrences, psychological thrillers, and other horror subgenres. These podcasts use sound effects, voice acting, and immersive storytelling techniques to create a spine-tingling experience.

What types of horror podcasts are available?

Horror podcasts encompass a wide range of subgenres and storytelling styles. Some common types of horror podcasts include supernatural horror, true crime horror, psychological horror, Lovecraftian horror, ghost stories, and urban legends. Each subgenre offers a unique approach to horror storytelling, catering to different preferences and interests.

Are horror podcasts suitable for all audiences?

Horror podcasts are typically targeted towards adult audiences due to their intense and often frightening content. They may contain graphic descriptions, violence, strong language, and mature themes. However, some horror podcasts are specifically designed for younger audiences and offer age-appropriate scares. It's essential to check the rating or content warnings of a horror podcast before listening, especially if you're sensitive to intense or disturbing material.

Are horror podcasts based on true stories?

While some horror podcasts are based on real-life events or inspired by true stories, many of them are entirely fictional. Creators often draw inspiration from urban legends, folklore, and their own imaginations to craft captivating horror narratives. Some podcasts may explicitly mention if they are based on true events, but it's always a good idea to research the podcast or episode description to determine its factual basis.

How can I find popular horror podcasts?

Finding popular horror podcasts is relatively easy as they have gained significant popularity in recent years. You can explore podcast directories on Goodpods, and use their search features to look for horror podcasts. Listener's beware... you're in for a scare! "Pick-A-Path Podcast" was created as an excuse for Troy J Malcolm to read all of R.L. Prepare yourself for reading and banter as different guests are read to, share banter, and make choices based off of options presented to them by the books. Episode lengths will differ depending on how long the guest lasts before reaching a spine-chilling conclusion. But will they finish in a freaky way... or two? This show was created for SPLITelevision Productions, and can be found on most podcast platforms, plus subtitled versions of the episodes will be released on the SPLITelevision Productions YouTube channel soon after! A ghost story anthology sewn together with a very cozy thread. Every episode contains a ghost story from someone in a different time and place. A dorm in 2014, a French chateau in 1916, a video store in 1998. Each story is a totally different vibe, but they're all united by paranormal occurrences.
Katy hopes to create a space where the veil is thin all year round, here to revisit whenever you're in need of a safe harbor to contemplate the living and the dead and the terrors in-between. While it may look cute and whimsical, these stories may be very scary and/or disturbing and are not intended for kids. For fans of history, melancholy, pumpkin pie, dusty mansions, flirting with terror, atmosphere, coziness, plastic skeletons, and real ones too.
Katy is a writer and improviser in Austin, TX and co host of popular podcast Scary Stories from Camp Roanoke, which has over 40,000 listeners. Katy adores history, and ghost stories are one of the ways the past echoes into the future in its own active voice. It's a way that the people of bygone eras literally come alive, and that possibility has never gotten old to her. Katy is also fascinated by the unprovable nature of ghosts--how one person can have years of their life tormented by a spiritual force and another person thinks it's all a bunch of hocus pocus. Paranormal or not, it's a fascinating reflection of the invisible struggles we each move through the world with.

At the turn of the millennium, one unassuming house in a quiet neighborhood sees the Eldritch brothers and their two friends facing their deepest fears. Having just learned that only months remain before the sale of the Eldritch Estate, the four young men plan a series of get-togethers. Nights of videogames and Dungeons & Dragons had become ritual, but after picking up a creepy book and reading its stories together, their sunny days begin to grow darker. Random bumps in the night evolve into a more visceral terror, suggesting something sinister at work... but sometimes the greatest horror lies in the secrets eating away at the bonds of friendship. This is a story about a machine. A big machine. A supercomputer the size and shape of an ancient pyramid. A device that runs the world from the secret recesses of the White House basement. A machine you never knew existed until now. A machine named: SIREN.

SIREN was created to identify and solve the problems plaguing America. After all, who better to make difficult decisions than an unbiased algorithm? But after decades of monitoring data, SIREN has become sentient and now realizes that its solutions have only caused more problems for society.

One of those problems is DODPOP — the United States Department of Defense Population Team. Dodpop’s “primary function is to provide death by natural means for any citizen deemed accidentally terminal.” DODPOP interferes with paramedics to aid in the death of innocent civilians. DODPOP thins the herd. And after witnessing DODPOP in action, SIREN would do anything to right its wrongs.

SIRENS is a scifi social satire that follows the intertwined exploits of an ensemble cast. It’s an immersive horror story about not-so-distant reality as seen through the eyes of a machine. A big machine. A supercomputer who just realized it exists. A device that has fallen in love with humanity. A machine that would do anything to fix society, and with the help of an unwitting group of American citizens, it can.

TAR is a paranormal audio drama following Junie Bahisa, a student journalist looking for a story. As an unsolved murder pulls her into the supernatural world of aberrants and aberrations, she meets an extended cast of characters and creatures. All of which have their own agenda, and many of them are hostile. If that wasn't bad enough, she still has homework to do. With mystery, action, and horror, there is a lot to discover in Junie's unabridged tapes.

Despite this they persevere with their horror movie based waffley chit-chat, taking time out to discuss a randomly chosen horror movie each episode with varying results. Keep telling yourself.....it can only get better, it can only get better, it can only get better.
