Horror Movie Survival Guide is a weekly podcast where two unlikely gorehounds and long time chums, one a hardcore horror fan with a notebook to prove it, and the other finally coming out of the creepy horror fandom closet - watch and talk about horror film from a survival point of view. We ask the question - how can *we* end up as the final girl? Join Julia Marchese and Teri Gamble as we take a deep dive into everything from OG horror to newly released films (but preferably classics on VHS). We'll talk about obscure details that no one else notices, spin off into alternate casting universes, crush on some foxy, dodgy fellows (and creepy uncles), and arm ourselves with the knowledge necessary to become The Final Girl.

THIRST - "Thirst After Sinful Pleasures."
This week we appropriately question everything about life, death, religion, feminism and our own THIRST (2009). Director Park Chan-wook holds nothing back with sumptuous imagery and body horror to delight all you gore hounds. Beautiful performances from Song Kang-ho (Parasite) and Kim Ok-bin who is a force to be reckoned with!

HMSG Interview Tarik Davis! "Predator 2"
Tarik Davis is an actor/writer/avid pop culture consumer based in New York City with a 20 year history of acting, performing improv and writing comedy. He strives to cross-pollinate performance styles and audiences in all his work. Currently you can see Tarik on The Amber Ruffin Show (two seasons available on Peacock TV) as Amber’s announcer, side kick and real life friend!
Tarik has appeared in multiple commercials and television shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ray Donovan, Friends From College, Last Week Tonight: with John Oliver and more.
Recently Tarik performed in the critically acclaimed Freestyle Love Supreme at the Kennedy Center and at The Booth Theater, in the Broadway run in NYC (2021) - and he hopped in for a weekend as a very special guest of the cast on their final leg of their tour at the Pasadena Playhouse - where Teri roped him into this interview!
In early 2017, Tarik shot a six-minute comedic horror short entitled Page One along with his brothers Don P. Hooper, LeMar McLean and producer Evan Kaufman . This short is based on a full length horror / comedy script that Tarik has been working on for the past 10 years. Tarik also has and continues to write multiple shorts, sketches, monologues and articles which have been published in print and online.
We finally got Julia to dive into the Predator universe with Tarik's iconic choice of Predator 2 (1987) starring the great Danny Glover. We discuss the alternate casting that could've drastically changed this movie and so much more!

Review That Review - "I Know What You Did Last Summer"
We are delighted to chat with more of our podcast friends from REVIEW THAT REVIEW the lovely Chelsey Donn & Trey Gerrald to discuss this VERY 90's classic I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (1997)!
We get into all the gory details & mostly talk about our crushes! Lookout for our bonus episode with this fabulous team for our Patreon where we take a look at the fans and critics reactions to this film!
Chelsey is an actor.writer.comedian who should've been a judge. Trey is an actor.writer.comedian who's working on his middle split. They started this podcast because they were sick of bullsh!t reviewers dragging down the ratings of possibly guiltless (the verdict is still out) businesses. Together they'll review that review and deliver the TRUTH. Let's sniff out the attention seekers and trolls and bring some integrity back to online reviews. It's time for the hardworking respectable reviewers out there to get their chance to shine! Check them out here!

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane - "This is My House!"
This week we celebrate the talented Jodie Foster who gives a powerhouse performance in THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE (1976). This films brings up the themes of personhood, ageism, ableism and misogyny as this "little girl" tries to survive, presumably on her own, in a hardened New England town.
Filmed the same year as Taxi Driver, Bugsy Malone & Freaky Friday - proving Jodie Foster was the hardest working kid from 1975-1976!
We hope you enjoy this episode!

Terrifier - "I Wished I Was Dead"
We end our clown round with the one of the scariest onscreen clown performances so far. This one is not just scary, but it's terrifying...TERRIFIER (2016) written and directed by Damien Leone. Just the poster alone for this one is haunting. It was a surprising first watch for both of our co-host! Not for the faint of heart!
