Who am I?

I'm Rich Bennett, a Marine Corps Veteran, Professional DJ, Entrepreneur and Professional Podcaster. I have a passion for all types of music and of course podcasting. I've been podcasting since 2015 and really enjoy meeting so many different people and talking about many different things and of course, always learning something. I love the idea of hearing conversations that make you think. I cover addiction and mental health on my show a lot, something many people so don't like to talk about, however, I've had people reach out to me and thank me for an episode(s) they heard and how it helped them. I chose this subject because we cover it a lot on the podcast. Thanks to Rage Against Addiction, I've been able to meet several wonderful people in the addiction circle, whether it's people in recovery, Peer Support Specialists or even people that have started a nonprofit to help others in addiction. Addiction is a serious issue and it's something that we all need to talk about.

My Show

What is my podcast about and/or how does it relate to the playlist topic you chose?

I explore a diverse range of topics with guests from all corners of the globe. From business and art to addiction and mental health, I delve into thought-provoking discussions with a variety of individuals. At times, I'm joined by engaging co-hosts who bring even more depth to the conversations. We share inspiring stories from individuals overcoming addiction and those that are helping them.

What is my podcast playlist about?

Podcasts about addiction can offer a wealth of knowledge and support for individuals who are struggling with addiction, as well as their friends, family, and society at large. They can also contribute to destigmatizing addiction and fostering a more compassionate and understanding society.

The podcasts I picked and why

1. From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery Podcast

Why this podcast?

This is the first podcast I recommended at the end of one of my episodes about addiction. Jesse is in recovery himself and has no problem talking about it.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and been disappointed with who’s looking back, or even worse, horrified by who you’ve become? After awakening in his bathtub, practically dead and not sure how to face another day, Jesse decided he didn’t want to die - he wanted to live differently. From that moment on, he decided to figure out how to do just that, live differently - and to become the person who utilizes his potential instead of continuously squandering it. In 2017, after two decades of battling addiction, Jesse embarked on a life-altering path toward long-term addiction recovery. This podcast delves into the nuances distinguishing sobriety from long-term recovery. Jesse shares his personal experience, transitioning from the depths of addiction to a proactive journey of change. Discover the power of a growth mindset, the art of processing and releasing emotions, the significance of nurturing relationships, the importance of self-forgiveness, and building a fulfilling life beyond addiction - through the powerful Neuro-Linguistic Programming lens. Jesse’s story is a testament to the transformative power of recovery, providing insights and support for others on their journey. Join Jesse as he navigates the complex yet rewarding terrain of long-term recovery, featuring real-life stories, expert recovery coaching advice, and a supportive community. This podcast is a beacon of hope and guidance for anyone seeking to turn the page from addiction to a life of purpose and joy.

Millions of people wake up with another hangover and Google, "how do I know if I'm an alcoholic?". We get stuck on the label and the stigma, when instead we should be asking ourselves, "is alcohol making me miserable?" and "would I be happier if I quit drinking?" In the Sober Powered Podcast, Gill, a former biochemist turned anger management and sober coach, walks you through the latest research on alcohol addiction using her own sober story as a case study along the way. The science of how alcohol affects the brain can help you depersonalize your drinking experience so you can finally say goodbye to your hopes and dreams of moderating someday (because you clearly can't moderate!). Getting sober doesn't mean you are a weak-willed loser with no self-control, it simply means you are a person who can't drink. Your brain loves it too much and you are too hardcore. Each episode features in depth explanations of what is going on in the brain along with the tools and mindset shifts that Gill works on with her clients to help them accept sobriety, let go of shame, and learn the coping skills required to manage stress and emotions sober -in the hopes of helping you do the same.
