Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

My name is Gustav Elfström, but I’m mostly known by my alias Zeventine. I was born in Stockholm Sweden where I currently also live. My mom got an opportunity for me to get into modeling when I was five months old but declined and she put me into acting and dancing at age five. It led me into appearing in movies and TV shows from age 10 to 19 and I couldn’t be more grateful for having her getting me my start.

Why did you get into podcasting?

In senior high I took a course in podcasting (and it wasn’t a good podcast I made for my finals) and I failed. Disappointed in myself and hurt, I decided I wanted to do a show that I’d be happy with and so Art is Alive was born. I borrowed my school’s radio studio and my classmate Bea who is a YouTuber in Sweden was my first guest. We made a pilot I was happy about.

How did the idea for the show come about?

I had listened to an indie podcast by rapper Azealia Banks put on Soundcloud. It was so cool for me to hear just her and a friend talk about anything without having a big budget and I thought; if she can do it, so can I and I did!

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

I interview public figures in the entertainment industry about their success stories but also when they struggled in their careers. I want my listeners to believe in themselves and to not give up when they feel they have an obstacle in accomplishing their dreams.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

Rejection was quite harsh, and actually, it still is. I remember being bold and sending an email to MTV about a collaboration and they denied me. I took it to heart. I established myself as a podcaster by interviewing enough local celebrities for the media in Sweden to care and reached out to them again a few years later and they wanted to collaborate with me, even inviting me to have a cameo on MTV Unplugged. Moral of the story, never give up!

How can your listeners support your show?

Listen to Art is Alive and follow me on social media, that includes Goodpods. If you’re listening to my show on other platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, please consider giving me a review there as well.

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

To all the Swedish listeners out there, I’m recording a new episode with pop/r&b singer Mollie Minott this week and I can’t wait for you to listen to it. We’ll be talking about her new project as well as giving some tips and inspiration on how to break into the music scene. Stay tuned!

Anything else you'd like to share?

I’m so grateful for everyone who’s ever sent me a message on social media saying they like the show and have given feedback and the few times I’ve been recognized in Stockholm. You make my day with your comments and interactions and I couldn’t be more happy about having the best fans a podcaster could ever have. Thank you and I hope you stick around! I love you!
