Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

Hi, I'm H.J., a 20-year-old college student with a major in Information Technology and a passion for gaming and technology. I have Autism and so I've faced barriers in the past, but I have not let that stop me from becoming a great podcast host and an awesome content creator.

Why did you get into podcasting?

When I was 17, I came across a platform called Anchor (now Spotify for podcasters) and got curious. I decided to ask my mom and dad to start a show. At first, I didn't really do anything with it, and it went nowhere. For my 18th birthday I got a gaming PC and a monitor, so I decided to start my show again this time doing things a bit differently. After trial and error, I officially started my show two months later on January 21st, 2021. From there my show began to reach new heights. :)

How did the idea for the show come about?

The idea for the show came from watching YouTube. I learned that there are very few if any podcasts that let you watch or listen to gaming videos, so I started there. After seeing success and mixed reviews I decided to include traditional podcast episodes to balance everything out and it worked surprisingly well. Since then, I have now reached several milestones and I'm now on my way to 10,000 plays/downloads across over 50+ countries around the world, which is a huge deal for someone like me.

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

I hope listeners will find themselves entertained by a variety of content.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

The biggest challenge for me has always been trying to balance my podcast and my work/school life.

How can your listeners support your show?

Listeners can support my show by buying my merch at https://tlis-2.creator.spring.com or you can donate by visiting https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tlis/support. Donations and merch sales will help me to buy new equipment and start programs and partnerships for aspiring creators in college environments.
