Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

If you called me a serial podcaster, you wouldn't be wrong. I've been in the podcasting space for over 10 years, and have the scars to prove it. I'm the Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.fm, the world's only growth-oriented podcast hosting, distribution, analytics, and monetization platform for serious podcasters. I live in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with my wife and two kids, where I spend winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake.

Why did you get into podcasting?

I got into podcasting because I love the intimacy of the medium. There's no other format where you can connect with so many people at the same time, but still have that direct one-to-one connection with every single listener. No other medium comes close to that.

How did the idea for the show come about?

To offer quick, no-fluff tips for busy podcasters to use to improve themselves and their show(s) in just a minute a week.

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

Useful advice that helps them avoid making mistakes, whether they're starting a podcast or already have one. And to let them know about tools and hacks that they might not know about because they're not as "popular" as the usual recommendations.

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

Understanding that podcasting success is a long-tail game, and to play in the space effectively you need patience and perseverance. Instant success is something questionable gurus will say you can have - it's not the case. And to not compare yourself with other podcasters and their perceived success, but to concentrate on what you're doing and what you need to do to get where you want to go on your podcasting journey.

How can your listeners support your show?

Several ways! Leave a review right here on Goodpods, or elsewhere on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc. Or, support the show with either a one-off tip, or a Magic Mic Membership where you get exclusive podcast tips just for your podcast, early access to all episodes, and a cool One Minute Podcast Tips sticker. :) https://oneminutepodcasttips.com/support

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

Offering a video component of the show, where I expand on the one minute tips by sharing how to set up and use the tools mentioned in the show, as well as some other fun stuff (maybe some live recordings or similar).

Anything else you'd like to share?

Just to enjoy your podcasting journey - you're doing something you love, and not many people can say that, so enjoy the ride!
