Podcaster Q&A
Tell us about yourself – what is your background?
I am a stay-at-home mother of five. My eldest is 17, and my youngest is 19 months old. I started podcasting in 2019. I've been writing novels since high school. Two of them were published, and I'm currently working on my third. I make my own bread and am in my 'crunchy mom' journey. I have a long-haired Persian cat named Molly, and in my free time, I play Fortnite and teach myself Russian.
Why did you get into podcasting?
I am a shy person, and I wanted to have an outlet for talking to a large group of people at once about Jesus and life and sharing the gospel. Podcasting seemed like the perfect way to accomplish that goal.
How did the idea for the show come about?
My podcast has undergone several changes in the last several years. I have changed the name a few times and the direction of the podcast to return to my original goal of sharing my faith with others. I wanted to find a way to narrow down my niche, and it felt right to be direct with my podcast name and content so I didn't waste time, which we all know is very precious.
What do you hope listeners take from the show?
I hope my listeners will learn how to care for their relationships with God. I want them to feel empowered to know that the gift of discernment is their best companion in guarding their hearts, minds, and bodies from lies, half-truths, and heresy within the Christian faith.
What's been the biggest challenge for you?
In life: Controlling my temper. I have always had trouble with a short fuse, but God has been chipping away at me in the last ten years, and I've been much better at noticing my triggers and asking God for help before I blow up. In my podcast, I often feel discouraged or overwhelmed. However, I have taken classes, joined a podcast community, and utilized tools to help with the organization of my podcast, which has helped me tremendously.
