Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

There are entirely too many things going on for any one person to humanly consume, process, and derive meaning from in this get-up-and-go day-in-age, you know what I'm saying? So let two people try to do just that. We're out to discover where we are in the grand human story by observing what's going on right now in the Zeitgeist.

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

We hope fams (we don't call them listeners) gain insight into what's going on around them while being entertained. You'll laugh, you'll learn, you'll come back for more cause stuff's always happening. While we aren't experts on anything (we have zero credentials), we hope to give you insightful color commentary on world and cultural events as only two straight white guys in their mid 30s can.

Which episode should someone start with?

Honestly, dive right in to the latest episode. There might be some in-jokes, to be fair, but this is a current events (relatively) podcast, so it ages pretty poorly. Almost immediately after it airs. We're like avocados. But if you like what you hear, feel free to delve into the backlog and remember some events from times long past (last month). There are also a number of deep dive episodes centered on one piece of media. These "Supplemental Readings" are timeless!

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

Our favorite episodes happen every year around the same time, although we can't rightly remember them. The Frightentimes are a horrid, spooky annual month long event that covers the frights and chills of the night, sometimes with an over-arching storyline. Other favorites are our extensive coverage of everything Fast and Furious.

Which episode are you most proud of?

Pick any of our Supplemental Reading episodes and know we have done way more research on it than the typical episode of Zero Credit(s). The Godzilla Minus One SupRed is particularly good because we are very big fans of Godzilla and have been starving for Godzilla content. So we really make a meal of it. Also good: In Episode 266, we insinuate that James Cameron wants people to piss in theaters around the time Avatar 2 came out and the riff was very funny.

What is your vision for your show?

The vision for Zero Credit(s) is simple: one day we will have consumed enough cultural content that we will reach a new level of enlightenment and know just how to guide humankind toward the next step of evolution. It's really, very simple. Also we want Emma (aka Emily) Stone to come onto the podcast as a guest.

What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?

We love podcasts. Really, we do. There used to be a rule on our show that we couldn't talk about other podcasts because we were afraid that our fams would learn that other shows exist and go listen to them. But we got rid of the rule because we love podcasts that much. See? We don't have that rule anymore and that proves we love podcasts. Shoutout to The Glass Cannon Podcast, Hollywood Handbook, Dough Boys, amid many, many others.

How did you come up with the name for your podcast?

We started the show in 2016 at a time when John was a finance major in college and Henry was getting an M.A. in Fiction Writing - we had no credentials to our names. There would be no reason to actually listen to us - we aren't famous, we aren't experts, and we really just don't know all too much about anything. So we made that the name to save people some time. Also video games.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Henry is a writer with stories and poems published in various literary journals. He is also a retired improv comedian. John is an active improv comedian who does something with data for various (shady) corporations. Together, these two nerds are Zero Credit(s), the show where they talk about thing(s).
