In this episode Sam Pettersen and Jill Meade talk about creating videos content and how to get started as an amateur.
JILL MEADE’S BIO
Jillian Meade grew up in the church television production world. Out of college she worked for a CBS affiliate in Kansas but "retired" from that world after having her first child. A few years later Jill started her freelance career by shooting cinematic weddings and then doing video projects for other clients. In 2006 Jill and her husband Sean started Stuck in the Middle, and she became the event technical director for events around the country from Florida to California and even as far as Vancouver Canada. Now Jill, has been making creative content and directing events for over 15 years. Jill has produced original programming for the Discovery Channel, music videos featuring Run DMC and Public Enemy, ministry content for Saddleback Church, Newspring Church and DYM. She is a storyteller who loves to see ideas come to life in a way that is emotive, engaging and epic. Jill lives in Southern California with her youth ministry loving husband Sean and their four amazing kids (ages 16, 14, 11, and 8).
MAKING KILLER VIDEOS
1.Learn to Keep It Simple
a.You don’t have to overproduce your videos
b.Protip: if you’re using your phone to to film for a widescreen, make sure your camera is in landscape mode.
2.Watch Others and Learn to Emulate What Works
a.Check out this church’s instagram for video inspiration! @zoechurchla
3.Pre-production will save you time and effort
a.Plan Your shots and locations
b.Have equipment ready; charge your batteries.
c.If you’re doing a testimony; meet with them before to work out their story.

Jonathan Collins’ Bio
Jon was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and is proud to call Portland home. He has been married for 11 years and has two boys.
Jon received a BA in Bible and Theology at Multnomah University. After working overseas in Christian ministry and then serving for a year as a Pastor, Jon stepped into the marketplace to explore digital communication. He started two digital communication companies and worked with clients ranging from Google and P&G to Silicon Valley start-ups and non-profits.
In 2009 Jon’s first company, Epipheo, introduced the business world to “explainer videos.” Jon has a long history of creating shareable videos that spread messages organically on the internet.
In early 2016 Jon ended his participation in former business ventures to work on The Bible Project full time. He is thrilled to be working on something so meaningful.
